To those of you who married IN RUSSIA: small request

As some of you know, I teach college Russian. One of the units in our textbook for next semester talks about Russian weddings. To supplement the materials I already have, I am looking for Russian wedding video footage--ZAGS ceremony, church ceremony, reception with a tamada, etc.

Do any of you have video of your Russian wedding that you would be willing to share? Thanks in advance to anyone able and willing to help

Especially if you were married in a McDonalds.

Jill, I will be happy to share with you my DVD disc. I have very a unique Russian wedding with basically all traditions, "crazy" celebration. I did everything by myself and with my family and my best friends. I have only a church ceremony in historical church, not in ZAGS. If it will be helpful, send me your address in private message and i will send you as soon as possible.

No video, only photos of my wedding at ZAGS.

Posted by: Jill

Thanks, Lena. I will PM you. I will certainly be happy to reimburse for postage, etc.

GTR, photos are great, too. Do you have them online somewhere where I could download them?

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Yes Jill I have them on-line. I will pm you the address.

Here are 2 web addresses for a wedding at ZAGS. It just so happens it is the ZAGS where I got married in Sochi! The first video ends where the couple go into ZAGS and the second video begins where the couple comes out of ZAGS. Maybe you aren't allowed to film in ZAGS. This ZAGS provodes a service of photos and maybe film. This could be why there is no film because they would lose busines/money. Hope this helps.

Awesome! Thanks!

You're welcome Jill. I'm surprised they didn't show the part where newlyweds go into the mountains to meet "The Hunter" and "The Bear". A BIG Sochi tradition ... so I'm told ... and I met them both! Very beautiful scenery in the mountains!

The daytime photos of mine were taken after the mountain trip. We took a little boat ride along the coast of the Black Sea. The night time pictures was at our wedding dinner.

Even though the marriage didn't work out, Sochi is a great resort city and not expensive. I will never forget the time I spent there and the people I met.

Hi Jill! Long time no see... or at least hear..
Tatysik and I got a VCR of our Ukrainian ZAGS wedding and since it won't work in a western VCR we had it transplanted to disc. Do you want only Russian?

Ideally, I' m looking for something in Russian (so that they can hear a bit of the language as well). But I have another question for you, AkMike: as I recall, Tatysik used to work as a tamada. Is that correct? If so, does she have any favorite (yet relatively simple) toasts that she used to make a weddings?

Jill, I have my entire viccup, wedding, progulka, and reception. It is all in Russian and has the tamada doing the events and games at the reception.

Would you like this.

We got married at ZAGS in St. Petersburg, Russia. Feb 2006

That would be great! How can I get this from you? Is it hosted somewhere online where I could download it, or would you be able to send a disk? If the latter, I will PM you my address and, of course, will reimburse for shipping.

send me a PM and I will overnight it to you.

I live in Orange county so you will get it quickly. It is on a full DVD, I have converted it to NTSC so it will work fine.

Sending PM now...No need to overnight it, though--I don't actually need it until late August when classes start up again. I'm just doing a little advance planning

sounds good. I will get it copied and out toyou this week. Hope you enjoy. No laughing at me.

You're right Jill, Our marriage ceremony was in Ukrainian. ( You couldn't prove it by me though ) Tanya said she will think about the toasts and write them down. It sounds like many are done to suit the needs of the party. Shoot us a phone number and she'll be glad to talk to you about these toasts.
It looks like your daughter is growning fast! Cool!

Great! Nothing too elaborate, just "typical" of marriage toasts. Thanks!

You know, some days it seeems like she is growing TOO fast, and other days like she's not growing fast enough (I now know why they call them the "terrible two's"!).

Did you get enough video? I have been in several Ukrainian weddings, if you want to check one out, look for my photos here on the forum. I will try to post more later.

Between Lena's and Waiting's videos, I should have enough. But I will definitely take a look at your pictures--I can use those, too
