A film of the same name, with Bill Murry, is just about to be released onto the British public. Having briefly seen an extract I wondered if anyone has had experience of being "misinterpreted" by way of the language difference between you and your partner, their friends and relatives?

From my experience I recall saying to my girlfriend that "I would never want you to disappear". Hahaha, her response was "where do you want me to disappear to?".

One of my classmates spent a year in a public school in Wyoming. The first day of school he approached a group of black boys, because even in 1995 we were already loving hip hop and he had never seen blacks before. So, one of them told him "What do you want from us, you can't even talk right." My fella's reply was, "I can speak Negro accents".)))))))))

Of course he meant "I know some Afro American slang". It took him half a day to apologize to them, because they were ready to beat him down 4 that.))))
