Happy New Year everybody! I haven't posted in a while and a few of you might have wondered what happened to me, although you probably could guess.

Olya has been here almost 3 wonderful weeks now and while sometimes the adjustment can be difficult, we both agree it is nothing compared to being apart for so long. The worst thing for her is worrying about the adjustment for her mother back in Russia. They are very close. They talk on the phone every day though.

Overall, everything is going very well. My family is all very excited and everyone has welcomed Olya with open arms. Sometimes my Dad calls her when I am at work just to chat and see how she is doing. She can't believe it and never expected such acceptance. We also went to the Christmas service in the church I grew up in and we had people lining up for their turn to welcome her. She was estatic and it made me feel great too. I think Olya expected people here to think badly of her simply because she is from Russia. Instead of preconceived notions, she gets a lot of friendly conversation from people who seem really interested in learning about her background.

We are very busy planning our wedding. It is scheduled for Jan. 24. We are getting married in the church. We thought about just having a private ceremony at the justice of the peace, but I told her I am so very proud to marry her and I want to do it in front of everyone so noone can have any doubt about the depth of our love for one another.

I wish everyone the best of luck and happiness in 2004!

That's a great posting golek, and what a wonderful introduction to a new environment for Olya. The reaction is all the better for those outside of your immediate family showing great interest.

All the best for the future mate!

My wife has been here now about 4 weeks. She is adapting well, but she still calls her mother and sister everyday which is fine. My wife is from Ukraine and there is a certain amount of pride in ones country when they leave. She misses the food more than anything. If you're in Savannah then you know the great weather we've been having here in Ga the past few weeks. I'm fortunate to have many friends. Katy doesnt understand how I can know so many people wherever we go. I'll be going to Savannah in a few weks hopefully for a couple of days. Katy has heard it's a neat place and wants to maybe go. I live about 2 hours from there maybe a little more. Goodluck in 2004.
