Anybody go to any of these restaurants lately?

I went to Uzbekistan in January. It's pretty good food wise. I went to Tiblisi about 3 years ago, also pretty good food.

I went to one in the Valley 3 or 4 years ago that was terrible-- I think it might have been Russian Village-- it had murals of Russian peasant village sort of scenes on the wall. Really bad food that was really over priced.

Uzbekistan remains a favorite of mine. Parking kind-of stinks, but the food is tasty and almost authentic.

Russia Restaurant (on Ivar) is a quandry. The food is good, but it takes forever to get it. The last two times I was there, it was absolutely frigid (temperature-wise) in the restaurant.

I did an online search before a day-trip to Universal Studios, and found 6 "Russian" restaurants on Fairfax Ave. in LA. The Black Sea was still there, but not open (we were there on a Thursday evening). We could not find the Palm Terrace - I drove around the block twice, and could not even find the address (it seemed to skip over 531). Another of these listed was next door to the Black Sea, (I don't recall the name, but I think the address is 446 Fairfax) but it looked more like a Jewish Deli than a Russian Restaurant. We visited a few of the Russian shops on Santa Monica Blvd. and both enjoyed this. I got to practice my (very bad) Russian, and she was able to find some familiar items to purchase. We asked about Russian restaurants in the area, and were directed to one called Crystal at the corner of Fairfax and Santa Monica Blvd. We went there only to discover they are only opened on weekends. However, a man who answered the buzzer (a strange experience for me) provided directions to another Russian Restaurant about two blocks up Santa Monica (sorry I only remember that it started with a T). We went there, parking was free before 8pm, and the waiter was friendly. After ordering, we considered leaving when Tatiana discovered that the restroom was located "in the kitchen". I think she meant she had to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. We stayed anyway (curiously, there was a health inspection certificate located on the wall next to our table). Tatiana ordered Borsh which she said was just ok. I tried the pelmeni and some kind of chicken. The pelmeni was ok, though I must qualify that this was the first time I had tried it. Tatiana said the color was gray when it should have been more white. The chicken was tough, and not very tasty. On the good side, the service was good, and so was the tea. Tatiana was shocked about the restroom location.
