That's one thing I miss living in Seattle, after moving from SF, are the restaurants. Haven't had any Russian food for a LONG time.

There used to be a place called "Little Russia", which was a couple of doors down from the Reinassance, and less pricey. Had DJ dancing (Russian and American) several nights a week. They went out of business, apparently due to the lease being up. Last time I heard, it was some other ethnic cuisine--
Indian? Korean perhaps?

"Traktar" used to be in the Sunset/Richmond district......might be one of those open, and on your list, but under another name.

Most of the places in SF are on the intimate side, at least the ones I've been to. The two major exceptions are the Russian Bear and the Russia House, which are huge......and ideal for weddings and large parties......

If you are planning to go to any place in the Richmond district in SF(centered around Geary and Clement streets, from roughly 3rd through 30th avenues) be aware it may be difficult to park in the streets. The only place in that area that has a public parking lot of any size is one next to the Ross clothing store.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions, Rasberry.

I also love San Francisco and its restaurants and culture (I used to live in Redwood City, on the Atherton border).

There are many Russians in San Francisco, but Russian culture wasn't on my radar screen when I lived there, so I didn't eat at any Russian restaurants at the time I lived there.
