Great pics, thanks! But on the page with the churches, what are those big orange things at the bottom pic? Do they grow fruit that big over there?

Those things look like the onion bulbs that you see on orthodox church towers. They must have been dismantled during communist times.

I'm really looking forward to my trip there in May of 2004. It's gonna be my first time to visit my GF in her hometown. My girlfriend told me that Yoshkar-ola is very different from Moscow. We met for the first time in Moscow last August.
