Can't wait for the New Year!

As I can not wait for the New Year to arrive, I'm going to jump about 8 or more time zones in front of the Americans who post here, so I can kiss my special woman before you ring in the New Year!

I'm headed to the airport in about two hours. I did get a little bit of sleep last night (I was up and wide awake at 3:00 AM ). Who can sleep at times like this? I just hope I get a few hours on the 10 hour flight.

This is my fourth trip to Russia since March. It's funny, as even as each trip becomes old hand, and I have less concerns about the actual travel portion of the journey, it seems that my luggage grows in size (and weight!) on each trip. On each trip, I have brought at least one large suitcase to leave behind (preparing for moving 540 lbs of stuff to the US ). My luggage on the trip to Russia always consists of gifts and food, and really not very much clothing. On the return trip, it's just the clothing and a few gifts (mostly vodka and wine ). Last time, I returned only with my carry on, my laptop computer, and a small day pack I needed to check (scissors, Leatherman, tools, etc.).

I have to give credit to my best friend here in VT. He rationed his bottle of Premium Blend so well that he had enough for a proper toast to send me off Saturday night.

Best wishes to everyone here in 2004. May your life be full of happiness, may your work be prosperous, may your health be good, and your bottle never be empty!

Red Square is fully decorated for "Novue Godom", fireworks are being lit over Moscow every night, and the city is gearing up for one hell of a party. I wish I could have stayed for New Year.

I wish you and yours a great, safe, and prosperous 2004!

Only have a minute or two to post. Must meet Natalya (she's getting her nails done ).

It was a great New Year. My only complaint is I have seen the sun only one day out of the seven I have been here. Other than that, the time has been wonderful.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe 2004. I'll post more when I get a chance.
