Dyadya (Uncle) Vanya is good food and great value-- and the best part is, you don't have to go to Brighton to eat there-- it's in the theatre district, west side midtown.

Thanks for the recommendation, Vyesna

I go to Manhattan at least once a year to take-in the theater. Knowing that there's a recommended Russian restaurant makes me want to go soon! I'm growing anxious just thinking about a fabulous evening of Russian dinner and the theater!

Thanks Vyesna!

All you guys have to do is take the B, preferably, or Q subway train downtown (all the way downtown until Brighton) to get to the region of New York city closest to the FSU. Be aware that it is a fairly seedy part of town. Eat at some reasonable restaurants and hang out on the Brighton boardwalk and beach (May to September). If you want to practice Russian language Brighton is the place to do it !

Considering that the Russian Tea Room is gone now, I think that the Russian Samovar has taken over.

Brighton Beach is awesome. I love that place. Yeah, it's not all glitz but it is the real thing. Closest to visiting FSU without actually being there.
