Euros in Russia?

Hello everybody,
I am new here (from Holland) and I like reading your forum.
I have met a Russian girl during last summer and fell for her. I was on an a language course and met her there (we are both still students and in our last year). We've spend some time together and later we found out that we've had some special feelings for eachother.
After we have corresponded some months we've met in Europe and it was really good.
Now I will visit her next February in Moscow where she will show me around (originally she is from a different city).

Okay, my question for you: does anybody know if Euros are also accepted in Russia, or do I need Dollars??

Ow, and does anyone have some experiences with taxis from the airport (SVO2 I think) to the center of Moscow?

Bye,
Daniel

The Euro is as easy to exchange in Russia as the US Dollar. No need to exchange them twice (Euro --> USD --> Pyb)

From what I understand, the taxi drivers are brutal, and will attempt to extract as much $$$ from you as possible. Avoid negotiating with them on your own at all cost.

It is better if you can arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport. Perhaps your friend can meet you, and arrange for the transportation? Paying the fare for what she arranges will still be a fraction of what the taxi drivers will get you...

Here's my .02 worth:

1. I used "Moscow Rick" and his drivers to get to and from the airport. He is a great contact in Moscow, and his fun , interesting, driver Andrei charges about $35 USD to and from the airport. I went into Domodedovo from Sucharevskaya metro, so he may be less to Sheremetyevo. He can be reached at www.enjoymoscow.com

2. There are money exchange kiosks everywhere. Some independant drivers asked for USD, but I always paid in Rubles. It is just good to get into the ruble mindset to help you put all your transactions into perspective.

Have fun!

Just the take the Euro.

Before xmas, the Russian Nationalbank sold out of Dollar. I just returned and exhange some dollar I had left, the bankier told me that people return / come from Russia with dollar.

At some hotels and banks, its ONLY dollar and Euro the exhange.
