Delta Airlines has recently made an interesting marketing ploy. Flight 30, which has long been the JFK-Moscow, now shows in the schedule as Seattle-JFK-Moscow.

This is NOT a true through flight, however. You will need to actually change planes at JFK anyway. This routing is called a "change of gauge"(using industry lingo)....same flight number shown, but a different plane, and essentially for marketing purposes........when travel agencies/airline computer systems are asked for a "direct" flight between these two cities, this will show up.

At least Delta is aware of the lack of Russia service out of Seattle, and is trying to make the most of it.
