Things I am noticing while in Odessa

Hi Guys,
I have to say that the amount of incredibly beautiful women here are numerous. Everywhere you look there is a women that looks like a fashion model with the most beautiful face and body.

But as I get closer to the majority of these women I notice something in 8 out of 10. Their teeth are not as white as what I am used to seeing in the U S.

Most of the women I see here have teeth that look like they smoke even if they don't smoke.

I know some of you might disagree in my perception. But I notice heygiene alot more than the normal person because of the business and profession that I am in.

In my hometown 8 out of ten women have snow white teeth and here in the Ukraine it looks to me like all the women's teeth here are unhealthy.

This is just something I have noticed and I wanted to see what your thoughts were on this. I just find it a little strange to walk in the mall here and see a women who has beauty beyond description and she has dark teeth.

And I have noticed the amount of women who smoke here. I think way to much smoking.

I think you will find that most women in the US are not this way naturaly ...they have their teeth bleeched. I have heard comments from many Russians that while they think their healthcare system is appauling ...you cant beat a Russian dentist.

This reminds me of a Steve Martin film (forget which one):

Steve: Your breasts feel strange.

Girl: That's because they're real.

The only adult teeth that are perfectly white are ones made of ceramic or those regularly bleached. Either way they look as laughably (and unattractively) fake as Pamela Anderson's chest

Generally speaking, quite the opposite is true. The standard of dentistry in the east is very poor on the whole and the prices match. Yes one can buy good care, but it is way out of the reach of many.

I've spoken to several people who have married girls from the FSU and found later they have been faced with huge dental bills in order to resolve problems created by poor work/care in times gone by.

As for the smoking, yep, an awful lot of them smoke. From my experience, the impressions of the author are pretty much spot on.

O K Eryk, If you are allright with the dark teeth then so be it. But even if a women bleaches her teeth how can that be unatractive. All it is is making her teeth whiter.

I for one find it hard to picture a beautiful women dressed fashionably modern with great smelling perfume incredible smile and elegant in every way and she opens her mouth and her teeth are dark brown.

If that floats your boat, all the power to you. But for me it's a turn off. Just my preference, the dark teeth to me kind of give me the feeling of something that is not taken care of or overlooked. It just doesn't sit right with me.

Oh by the way, I never brought up the subject of boobs. Only TEETH.

I agree. I was speaking about assorted shades of ivory and cream - not the colour of black tea.

Exactly my reaction to perfectly white teeth. It suggests to me a person who has neglected dental hygiene to the point that wholesale replacement with porcelain prosthetics has been needed.

Hi Eryk,
When a women has perfectly white teeth that doesn't mean her teeth are fake. It just means they were bleached to be white. If you gave a women her choice of what she really wanted in her teeth to look like, my guess is they would want them very white like the women they look at in fashion magazines.

I dont know if you are married or have a girlfriend at this time Eryk. But I would find it a little bizare if she had very white teeth and you asked her in a nice way ."HONEY , DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DARKEN YOUR TEETH, I THINK YOU LOOK MORE ATTRACTIVE THAT WAY.

OK.... I have no idea if this is even an issue, but I learned about it recently by a letter from our water board and then I saw a program on the public access channel... FLORIDE... seems if there is TOO much floride in water, the teeth are good for prevention of cavities, but they become 'discolored'... it is the children that it happens to, not the adults.. so, maybe too much floride in the water...

Maybe Ukraine is different to Russia....maybe its because i was in Moscow most of the time...but i didnt notice any great difference between here and there. Nat and her friends had teeth that were white...admittedly none were smokers. The older members of the family had slightly discoloured teeth....as is normal in the aging process.

I dont find it very attractive or natural when you see people whos teeth are so white they are more dangerous than looking at an eclipse. To me they look like dentures even when they are their natural teeth.

My sister is an unfortunate victim of this. If sulphur drugs are taken at a very early age it turns your teeth brown-dark brown.I'm not sure of the age but I believe my sister was probably less than 3. She can't bleach hers...only option is to do panels.

Hey Spak. This is a different matter. You are not talking of someone that has "normal teeth" and wants to make them brighter than the sun. Its like this crazy drive for perfection...16 yr old girls having boob jobs ect. If there is a medical reason fine but when its done for vanity i think its crazy.

If you smoke or drink too much tea or coffee...brush your teeth more often..or have them cleaned...or stop smoking. Its like stuufing your face with fast food and then getting lipo every 12 months.

I see your point Spak. Yes maybe its a local thing in Odessa...high sulphur in the water? As i say i didnt really notice it in Moscow or even Nats town of Ulyanovsk....well no more than other places i have been.

Err, yes - of course. She is taking perfectly good natural teeth and attempting to create the *impression* of false teeth!! Bonkers if you ask me. I would say the same to girl from Bejing thinking of dying her hair blonde.

Big, white, square and preternaturally regular. Im afraid not. Natasha wouldn't want that any more than she would want to be 6' tall and 100lbs.

I do, she is Belarusian, we live in Minsk and there is a photo of her in the library somewhere if you want to check out her teeth

Hi Eryk,

It's a big world out there and we all have our own likes and dislikes.
But the cold hard truth is both of us are equally right. It comes down to what your women wants for herself and it's her choice not yours. If she wants dark teeth and she wants to smell bad also , all the power to her.

I'm not trying to sound funny in about what I will say. But I hope your women at least wears under arm deodarant.

Because if you tell me that you like her smelling natural after a walk on a hot beach sweating in the sun I will have to have some worries about you.
But then again, maybe you like it. And if you do then so be it.

Does your women wear any makeup ? Maybe you should insist on her never wearing any makeup any more. tell her you insist that she stops trying to put that stuff on that makes her look different. Let's see what would happen. It's 2007 not 10 B.C.

I'm not trying to give u a hard time. I know we all have our own views & opinions and yours is as good as mine.

But I'm not looking for a cavewomen in dinasour history. Just so you know , I like natural also up to a certain point. But when a women has great perfume on it's a turn on for me . And as you would tell me I'm sure. Perfume is not natural.

And as far as renovation projects go. It's the women that are renovating themselves with makeup and boob jobs and bleached teeth and beautiful nails.

Does your women brush her teeth. Or do you tell her to not put tooth paste in her mouth because it's not natural. Maybe bad horendous breath turns you on. If it does I'm O K with that to.

Keep in mind that the teeth's natural color is not pearl white. It is white with a slight yellow tint.
In many western countries, we have whitening products in our toothpaste. And our teeth come into contact with high amounts of flouride that helps guard against bacteria. So this not only makes the natural color whiter, but it prevents staining.

Bad teeth is also not always meaning poor hygiene. Sometimes genetics can play a role in that the enamel is more prone to decay. And also many anti-biotics as well as other drugs can weaken teeth.

I've worked in the dental field as a ceramist for 20 years; white teeth are definitely unnatural. The vast majority of the porcelain I must use to match a persons' teeth is an orange-yellow color referred to "Vita Lumin A3". The large percentage of "white" teeth we see in the USA and other western nations is a result of bridge work and veneers which have been made using whiter porcelain, or bleaching; now dental labs must stock what is called "bleaching shades", porcelains which match the bleached out color of teeth which have been bleached with a hydrogen peroxide solution. I do not like this bleaching trend, as I feel it must damage enamel in order to do it's work. Many people who bleach complain of sensitivity during, and sometimes after, bleaching. This does not surprise me, since I know how bleaching works.

And, as previously mentioned in this thread, drugs can strongly affect the color of secondary teeth. It is not truly a sign of poor hygiene. While many people may not like the appearance of "dark" teeth, it is not unnatural or a sign of poor hygiene. Some dentists like to foster the notion that teeth must be white, but it is truly a fictional notion.

BTW, I'll be in Odessa during July.

Hi Guys,
Well as you know this is my 3rd time to Odessa. But my 1st time here in the summer. Last time I came here in April. It was cool weather and very nice.

Now it's summer in July and very hot. My women said it's hotter now than it was last summer and the summer before that.

From just walking around here yesterday It had the South Beach vibe. I live in Florida and I really felt like I was back in South Beach. Everyone sitting outside in little cafes.

And yes it's hard not to notice the women wearing mini skirts and high heels.
