Hey Randy i agree. It is interesting that wisconsin is a state with secondary seatbelt laws. They can stop you for not wearing a seatbelt but can only fine you if you have had another vehicle violation. The fine is $10 and no demerits points. Its been compulsory for over 30 years....in my state its a $200 fine for every person in the vehicle not wearing a belt and 3 demerit points for the driver.

California and other states that have primary seatbelt laws similar to ours ...however some 30 US states still have only secondary. People here didnt wear them until they were fined a decent amount and demerit points added. If you get caught on "double demerit weekends...usually holidays" its 6 points. 2 infringements like this and you have no licence

The amount of times in Russia that i was told i didnt have to wear one was amazing...no way...this advice once came from a cab driver who "crossed himself and touched the saint on his dash as he went through a red light.

It is a habit for me now. If i go to the drive in ( yes we still have them ) and go to the toilet...i instinctively put it back on when i get back in the car.

LOL,I thought you were going to say when you go to the toilet you put on a seat belt ......helps when I finish reading the whole sentence.

Here in Canada we also have strick seatbelt laws,10 years ago it cost me $120,it is probly more by now,and we lose 4 points. So it would not take long to lose our licence here also.We are also responcible for anyone under 16 years old,so if they do not have it on,we get the ticket and lose the points.

It is the same here Randy around a Ј60 ($120) fine and 3 points, 12 and you get banned and loose your licence and again you are responsible for anyone else in your car that doesn't wear one. When it first became law here in about 1982 it was a pain but now it is second nature.

Someone remind me....isn't Sheboygan's claim to fame, it's non-existent Conservetory of Music.

I may be wrong, as I've never heard of Sheboygan before, but, in that famous film Some Like it Hot, when Tony Curtis and Jack Lemon were trying to get a job in a girl band, they were asked where they learn to play. I'm sure they said The Sheboygan Conservetory of Music.

Wow, the trivia one builds up in life!

On my last trip to St Pete's we saw a fatal car crash on the way to the airport. There was at least one fatality that I saw - most likely there was two. The crash looked quite survivable and based on my very quick and superficial glance looked like at least one person had been thrown as a result of not wearing a seatbelt.

Hey Chris. Here if you and your wife and 2 friends are in the car with no belts thats 12 points ...licence gone and $800.....On a holiday weekend...or holidays it only has to be 2 people. In the state of Victoria they came in 1970 and the other states followd shortly after...some of the other states the fines are even more. Its funny but after a while it really does become second nature.

Correction to an earlier statment I made,we do not loss 4 points but only 2 points if caught with out a seatbelt plus the fine still.

Sorry....I woun't let it happen again.
