I wonder if you can help me come to a decision on some things. Over the past few couple of years I've been chatting with a few Russian women and I have a few pen pals from Russia and other CIS countries. Because of this, I have decided I want to go study the Russian language over there somewhere. I've looked into several university and private language programs, and it seems just about every big city has at least one place I can go study. Some are more expensive than others. Moscow of course is the most expensive. To study at Moscow State University for a year would cost nearly $5000, while studying at Donetsk National University in Ukraine will only cost about $1000 including accommodation in the university hostel! Other places I've looked at include Minsk State Linguistic University ($1500 for 10 months, housing included) and Moldova State University ($1500, no housing). There are many more! Anyway, what do you think about it? Where do you think I should go to best enjoy my time, have the best experience, meet most people, etc. ? Thanks in advance! ![]() |

I just returned from Chisinau Moldova a few weeks ago. It is a small town atmosphere with a big city feel. Their national language is Romainian but everyone speaks Russian. It is the only place I visited that took visa, mastercard, and travelers checks. The also have banking machines. Fanacially it was pretty cheap to live when compared to Kiev, about half the price. |
