Calling Card!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've bought a few calling cards on line. They give you less then half the time advertised and therefore more then double the rate per minute. Does anyone know a good reliable calling card? I have a cell phone plan for $0.23 a minute.

We use euromama but I never checked if we were paying more or not. I know there were threads where others list their preference.

Hey GTR,

I use two different ones, and they both work well for me.

1. cf.comfi.com
2. enjoyprepaid.com

They both have been good luck for me for the past year. Let me know if either works for you!

enjoyprepaid has been working for me quite well. You have to carefully read the difference between the cards. What is the number of minutes they round too, 5, 3, or 1. Is there a monthly fee for just having the card, etc...

Chippie: do you know if enjoy can print out a call log for you?

Thanks guys, I'll give enjoyprepaid a try.

I have only used them once and it was a diaster, terrible quality of line, echoes and delays, I asked and got a refund from them. I now use VOIP or the cheap International call lines, much better quality and more reliable.

No problems with clarity or quality, just that they don't give you the minutes they promise. What is VOIP? A calling card or something used from computer to computer? She doesn't have a computer so I can't do that.

No Steve you can use VOIP to phone Russia and many other countries for free, I have started using it following advice from Vic and others in the UK section and it is good. Took me a while to sort it out but it is OK now. You can call landlines and mobiles no problem, I even use it now for dialling inside the UK but believe it or not I can call Russia etc for FREE and my next door neighbour it costs me to call them rediculous but true!

Here is the link to the thread we have been discussing it in. The last few pages is where I got involved.

Thanks Chrismc. You have to pay to call Moldova and it is a little more then I'm paying now.

I've been using enjoyprepaid for 2 weeks now and it's working very nicely. Thanks for the tip Chippie and ET.

Why don't you guys try to download SKYPE . I use this everyday to call Odessa and it's very inexpensive even calling a regular phone. It is even cheaper when it is computer to computer but you can't beat the price.

I talk for 45 minutes and pay about $2.75 - 3.25 for the whole call

She doesn't have a computer and I did check, it is more expensive then a calling card. Remember, I'm calling Moldova, not Russia.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Try this site:
http://www.callingcardplus.com

This is the specific card that I use to call Russia:
http://www.callingcardplus.com/Card....asp?CardID=152

The rate to call Moldova from the U.S. with this card is 13.79cents/min.

Good Luck!

That's about the same price I pay for the card I'm using now, 14.2 cents a minute. I will check out this card though, thanks.

I would invite you to the American meeting place, it's called The Pit, but things aren't very lively there anymore since my 2 buddies married and are living with the Russian Beauties in America ... lucky slobs!!!

We use a western union goldcard. I don't know all the details but I received the card after I had sent money a few times. They have a prepaid phonecard. The rates are a tad bit higher than others but I have found them to be very reliable. When I had a problem once they had it corrected quickly. We pay 8.9 C per minute to Siberia(Moscow is 6 C and St Pete is 4.9 C). I checked and the rate to Moldova is 14.6 and about 2 C more to a cellphone. No connect fee and per minute. This card works like others...800 number and a pin.

The girl I'm talking to suggested this but I couldn't find one in my area. It's about the same price I'm paying now.

I'll be honest I don't know if you can just get one. It is a rewards program. You get points which don't add up to much. I am well satisfied with the phone service though.

I would check into it. Curious how she knows about it. The websight is http://www.westernunioun.com/goldcard The sight sucks as you really have to dig around to find what you want! You can recharge online, through an 800 # or at a western union station(grocery stroe, etc).

Hey GTR,
You might try going to a Russian market if you have one in your city ( which you probably do.)
My wife always buys phone cards at these places to call russia, kirgizstan, sweden, etc.
Russia on her cell phone is like 1 cent a minute.
I know you said Moldova but some of our friends are from Moldova also and they purchase the same cards. They also use their computer to talk to family tho i dont know what program they are using.
These stores usually have about 5 different calling cards. 5 , 10 ,and 20 dollar cards.
Some are cheaper than others depending on the country
Just ask the owner as they will know the cheapest card for each country.
Anyway just an idea to ponder.
Jerry

Nope, no Russian store in my city. The closest is about 90 minutes away.

If you need cheap international phone cards for calling former USSR countries - Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia (etc.), and also worldwide ( Europe, Africa, Asia), here is the website:

http://www.easy-phonecards.com/

All the cards are refillable (you can use the same pin code). Connection quality is excellent. Personally I like to use Continental, because it's cheap, you can track your phone calls, and there are no hidden fees or taxes. You can also have a pin-free access
