Can't find this anywhere yet...
has anyone purchased airline tickets from Uzbekistan airways? None of the online sites apparently deals with them and they are the only airline that arrive in Tashkent in the afternoon/evening. It also gives the shortest flight which would be nice.
If it involves a phone call, that is okay but the entire phone number from the US would be appreciated.
Just in case anyone else is going to tashkent from atlanta. delta to frankfort/UzbekAir to tashkent is the most efficient way to get there.
but so far, I can't get tickets online for that scenario.
thanks much

hey dude, yeah i'm going to uzbekistan in 2 weeks,i know its hard to find someone who deals with uzbek airways....but i bought my tickets from cheapair.com....my flight is from tampa(florida) to atlanta,to frankfurt and then to tashkent. on uzbek air...this scenerio isn't the cheapest, but the other airline options was florida to new york then to moscow, where there was a stay over of 10 hours in moscow.the tics were cheap, but who wants to hang out in an airport for ten hours.my longest wait is in frankfurt,2 hours.also uzbekistan airways uses the letters HY,but that is uzbekistan airways.

You can buy tickets direct from the airline and they seem very reasonably priced.
You need to e-mail them with dates and they will send back a quote.

I think they go from London & Paris as well.

HY is starting to have more agreements with other carriers. So actually, more places are allowed to ticket for them, compared to the past..

I hope it isn't bad form to post to your post....
For tickets to Uzbekistan...russiahouse.net ( Do not go to russiahouse.com !!!) was able to help me and gave a price within $10 of Orbitz and the other online guys. But...there is a fedex fee due to paper ticket and some other fee that I didn't really understand but didn't mind very much because I will now be getting into tashkent at 8:30 PM instead of 3:30 AM. Russiahouse's online help wasn't as much help as I would have liked...but I had the travel agent's email that helped me with my trip to Kiev and she got the tickets with no problem. If you need help with Uzbekistan tickets, pm me and I will give you her email. She is romanian and apparently pretty much helps people going to romania....unless you ask for her.
so, what I have learned...if you don't mind getting into Tashkent at O'darkthirty in morning...there are several online sites that will get the job done and probably save you forty to fifty dollars. But, if you want the shortest flight that will get you into tashkent in the mid evening...UzbekAirways is the way to go and that will mean you will be dealing with PAPER tickets and a little more money. I did not want to get anybody out of bed at 3 am just for me. And now I get a friday night with her! I think it will be worth the money.
Anybody else with any input on going to Uzbekistan?
