Does anyone know of a free text service from Russia to the UK?

I can text Olga for free (from my pc) but we can't find a free service for olga to text back, apart from 30 free texts a month on Orange.

I've not heard of it being possible for some time now There used to be sites that did it in the advent of SMS, but not now... it will be the same in Russia soon (they are following the same business model). However, I just bought a new SIM card with MTS (MTC) and it costs be 85 kopeks a message to the UK (£0.017)... not so bad Also, it's cheaper than the 15r an hour that it costs to log onto the net at home (£0.30 = 17 messages)

Thanks bing, that's a cracking deal

I haven't heard about it either.
come on, one sms costs a rouble. I don't think it is much.

The cheapest sms on mts cost 1.65 rubl at new red_txt tariff, look at the http://www1.mtsgsm.com/
To send txt abroad cost me 3,45 rubl per txt. 1 rubl its price per txt over russia. I always send lots of txt abroad so link at the net to txt for free would b very useful.

any way, I don't understand.
Even if she uses that site, she'll pay for the Internet.
Of course if it is not limited, than it is fine.
But if she pays for every bite, she'll pay more money than if she sent sms through a mobile

Posted by: Leprechaun

She can send free SMS while picking up her mail.

Just be careful, if she pays for every Internet bite, than it'll be less expensive to use a mobile for sms (because when you open a site, you receive a lot of bites)
what provider does she have? I'll try to find the site so you could send unlimited free sms to her

Hello new member, nice to meet you.
it is a pity that the site didn't work.
I remember I sent free sms to the UK, but it was so long time ago that I don't remember the site.
If you have unlimited Internet (I envy you), try to search how to send free sms to the UK.
I tired to find a site to send free sms to Spain, all I found was free sms to the UK

What????

a web text is a few bytes, nothing to even think about.

Nobody pays for bytes from the internet its all about mins or MB's on broadband if you go over your limit.

If you tell us the name of the mobile provider that you are trying to send SMS to, then we can help you find their website and free unlimited SMS messages.

or you can search on google for the name of the mobile provider, search around and most likely you can find the webpage.

I have such Internet at work. We pay for every sent and received byte. So I can tell you if I open and do some surf on a site I pay for it 2-4 rubles, that's more expensive than just to send an sms from a cell

It is just to open. Wjile it is open, different ads and pics take bytes, as long as you keep this page open it takes bytes.
I hate this type of Internet, because it limits you.

Posted by: Leprechaun

I didnt even thing of ads, some of those are really, heavy, you need an ad blocker and more.

In this day and age that is one of the biggest internet rip offs.

about 4 years ago my net was 1p per min, my phone bill was sky high every month, so I can kinda understand.

Orange, UK.

Sorry new member, it appears that Orange UK is not so friendly. The only way to send SMS's through through their website is to be an Orange UK subscriber.

I looked at a bunch of other options but they all appear to be rip-offs, like charging the receiver of the SMS 1.00 pound to read the SMS.

http://freebiesms.com/ not a free one. Asked the recipient to pay for read a txt.

Posted by: EasyTarget

I don't know why I didn't think about this before but you can send the person an email to their mobile.

Here is a website that lists almost all mobile phone carriers.

http://www.avtech.com/Support/Email/Email_A.htm
and for orange in the UK
http://www.avtech.com/Support/Email/Email_O.htm
I am not exactly sure which one it is.
where it says <10-digit-number> just put their mobile number without the country code information and it should work.

Let me know.
