ekaterinburg for love

Hi to all of you,
I come back from my trip to Ekaterinburg last week. It did not start well after a snowstorm which stuck the plane in Perm for 8h during the first night, eventually I arrived there in a beautiful sunny and cold weather. And she was there as beautiful as she looked like on the pictures or the web cam. I finaly met Evelina and we spent as much time as possible together (she was at work during daytime). It has been a wonderful week, I will try to go back there before end of march. I will try to get a 1 year visa, it is kind of boring to get tourist visa each time. I will see how this works. The city itself was covered with snow and somedays quite cold, I did not see much differences with a european city beside the roads that aren t cleaned from snow and ice, so it is kind of bumpy and tough for cars. Nightlife is pretty good, and people I met during my trip and my stay there were always friendly despite my very limited russian level (started 2 months ago). The transfer between sheremetievo 2 and 1 is pretty simple once you know which bus to take (48 and 49 worked fine for me). Well I won t say I fel in love with the city, I would like to see it without snow, but definetely it was worth the trip and to know more about my new girlfriend Evelina.
(Can someone tell me if the valentine s day is something usual in russia ?)

It has become very popular nowadays. The same as in Europe.

Good luck!

Yes it has now become popular just like the West.

This is a little of what Natasha wrote to me about understanding this western holiday last year about this time but i will remove the parts specifically relating to me and her

" hope you don’t mind my calling you my Valentine, to me it feels very special and very unusual, I want to enjoy every detail of the holiday."
........

" have seen some reports about how people in different countries celebrate this holiday, of course some are romantic and try to surprise their beloved, but not all of them. When I hear people say it is too commercialized and that American traditions are more popular all over the world and that people started to forget about their own ways. Well, in Ukraine we started to celebrate this holiday right after we became independent from Russia. I am grateful that we have more holidays now, they make our lives brighter, I don’t want to deprive myself of one more chance to have a great day.

I still like hearts, chocolates, flowers, things that make me feel beautiful and wanted, everything makes me smile, even if it is not me who gets all this. I have heard a very touching story about how a couple from Ukraine celebrates this day, there was nothing extraordinary, but everybody could see how they care for each other, once he gave her a heart, when she was ill, and now this is the dearest thing to her. I know I am too sentimental but I don’t want to hide it and say I don’t care."

I have to admit i found out on actual Valentine's day she had a very superfical understanding of some of the traditions from western culture so i don't think all people from FSU understand what the day is meant to be about
so be careful assuming they do as they may not understand it like a women from a western country does.

hope this helps

Never met a Russian woman that didn't like hearts, chocolates (sweets), and flowers.

My ex happened to love flowers, of course. But she was the only woman I ever met that DIDN'T like chocolate. In fact the only person I've ever known that didn't like chocolate.

That should have been a tip-off about her psychotic side

Any woman that doesn't like chocolate is certainly suspect...

he he .. that is funny. I've also never known a person that did not like chocolate, male or female.

Hi again,

thank you for your answers and support. Well, I will take care of this properly. And 1 thing, she does not like chocolate... My exwife did like it, so I would not consider any psychotic matter there honestly.
Evelina is a wonderful woman and I am very glad we met and will meet again. If god created woman, then he probably started in Russia...

One more thing, has anyone tried to get a multiple entry visa (for 1 year for example) ? Tourist visa is so annoying (one has to go and book hotels each time). I will try that and see how long it takes. There is one matter which annoys me is the travel insurance for such long period.
The russian consultate says :

If you are applying for a multiple visa, please note that the validity period of your insurance policy should cover the whole planned trip to Russia. That means that your insurance for multiple visa should be valid for a consecutive period of not less than 180 days of staying abroad Sweden. The information about the validity period of your insurance policy should be specified in the letter from your insurance company.

cheers by now and thanks again

erwan

Perhaps a woman can not eat chocolates because of reasons of health (for example: allergy) but she feels shy to say about it

Olga.

Now I like this saying. It sounds like a "line" in a Russian bar! I'll have to try it sometime.

So earzel, I only hear great things about Swedish women (long, lean, and blonde goddesses). What are Swedish women really like?

The people that have health problems have always been upfront in telling me so, be it an allergy, or a diabetes issue. And even some of those folks do like it and take extra of what medicine they need.

But my ex really DOESN'T like chocolate!

Are you positive she was a woman?

Visited Sweden when I was 16. Visited a Swedish beach with their liberal attitude for clothing and forever more Swedish women will always a special place in my heart.

I sat next to a Swiss Miss on my last flight. We parted company at Vienna. She was 24.
OMG, if I were a younger me(and not already in love!).... hahahhaha

Don't know about the tongue piercing though...

Posted by: earzel666

My ex wife was half french half english and my girlfriend after this was swedish. Yes swedish women are beautiful but they look very similar to each other, I would take the risk that russian women have a more natural beauty (I might not be 100% objective). Something is a bit sad about gender differences in western europe. You can care about a woman and show her that you do care and love her, you can t really behave as a gentleman because they don t pay attention to that. Feminity is going away from our culture, and I think this is very sad. This is maybe why I found Evelina so different... Maybe I was just unlucky with my 2 first women, no idea. Russian women seem to pay attention to things that western women don t care about anymore, thanks to feminism....

earzel666, how did you like the city itself? Heard all kinds of stories about it being much like this one city in Italy....Palermo, Sicily, to be specific----except with much colder weather. Any problems with crime and criminals?

Posted by: earzel666

nothing special about the city and I don t know Palermo. We went out few times and everything was fine, I don t think we can get in troubles in winter times. It reminds me of Warsawa. It is a big and quite concentrated city, so I imagine there are places to avoid. But nothing happened, so fair enough and I was with a russian woman who knows the town... it might be different when one travels alone. Next time I hope we can spend more time walking around and I can tell you more about it.
There was few ice sculptures and beautiful and rich churches.
But you know, when it is -10 or less, you feel easily lazzy to go out.
The only thing I can say is that everyone I met there were very nice to me.

earzel666, glad to hear everything has mellowed a bit. Ekaterinburg had a lot of "drive-by" shootings, for quite a while, due to the mafia "families" fighting each other, and innocent people getting killed along with the criminals.

I have not heard of anything happening lately....so I guess it is cleaned up and a safe place to go.
