Hi Everyone,

I decided to create a resource on our Ruskipedia.com site that lists information about all relevant Foreign Embassies in Russia and the former Soviet Union, so that we would all have a quick reference if we needed.

Here are the links to the Ruskipedia Embassy pages:

American Embassies in the countries of the former Soviet Union

Australian Embassies in the countries of the former Soviet Union (needs information added)

Canadian Embassies in the countries of the former Soviet Union (needs information added)

UK Embassies in the countries of the former Soviet Union (needs information added)

Please feel free to register for free on Ruskipedia and add more information to these Foreign Embassy pages...

Thank you, RWBound, for adding all of the links to the American Embassies in the former Soviet Union.

I added some photos and did a bit of formatting, and I think that it looks pretty good so far.

I welcome and encourage everyone to add additional useful information to those Embassy sites.

Thank you, RWBound, for having begun to add information about Australian Embassies in countries of the FSU...

I would appreciate if others also contributed some contact information and details to those pages also (so that we are all contributing a little bit of time).

When I travel I always have the embassy phone number. Not sure how much help you can expect but may be worth the effort.

Hi Sid,

You mean that you are not sure how much help that the Australian Embassy with provide, or not sure how much help RMP members will provide in contributing information to Ruskipedia?

I certainly hope that everyone feels a sense of responsibility to contribute as much information as they can to the pages on Ruskipedia (just as they do to the Russian Meeting Place). Ruskipedia is meant to benefit everyone, and is a free complement to the RMP forums. Our Ruskipedia site is meant to contain the very best information from the RMP, presented in a clear and organized way.

Again, thanks again to RWBound for taking the time to add the information for the Canadian Embassies in the countries of the former Soviet Union.

I appreciate your contributions.

Some of the diplomatic missions in the FSU are quite interesting. I remember, a decade ago, India, Israel, and Turkey used to operate their embassies out of hotel rooms at the Belarus Hotel in Minsk.

And, when you have a large expatriate population concentrated in a certain areas, outside the capital/most populous cities, there is also a need for diplomatic missions. Greece indeed has a consulate in Mariupol, due to the large Greek population in the Mariupol-Donetsk corridor.

I'm not sure how much assistance I would get from the US embassy if I had a problem and gave them a call. I know how slowly the wheels of gov't turn at times. I still travel with a copy of their address and phone no though. I'd be curious if anyone needed help from their embassy and if they were of any assistance.

I understand what you're saying, Sid.

I never have been in a bind and needed to call a U.S. Consulate abroad, although when I called the Warsaw US Embassy regarding Lena's fiance visa, they were very friendly and helpful.

But, I know that the Russian and US Consulates have been having their spats, so the actual help you receive might depend on how nice the two governments are to one another at a particular time.

Once again, I want to thank RWBound for adding more details (and photo of the U.S. embassador to Lithuania) to the United States Embassy page.
