Does anyone know the best way to get russian TV in London? I expect that one needs to get a satellite dish of some sort or can this be done by cable? Any help or advice would be greatly apprciated.

The internet is the future and you can use www.worldstreamtv.com, only $10 a month, shows major Russian channels, Moscow version.

Great resource, Swindoom.

Have you used their service before?

How reliable are their video streams?

We have been using it for over a year now with no problems, they are continually improving the service and the streaming is good quality.

I dont believe it helps adaptation to immerse her too much in Russian things - Yes we go to the Russian food shop but thats about all, give her too much Russian culture and she will either start getting homesick or fail to adapt/ learn language proplerly. Added to which, you dont want her sitting on her arse all day watching TV when she could be out and about doing something more constructive do you?

No Russian TV in this house!

I disagree, I think it helps in the transition, instead of being totally cut off from what she has known all her life she can gradually adapt to her new situation. She has never felt homesick, everything she wants to do in Russia she can do here. She has never spent all day sitting on her arse watching tv even when she has a hangover. The only time she watches alot of Russian tv is at new year, the rest of the time she prefers to watch English tv. Especially English comedies, "Keeping Up Appearances", "My Hero", "My Family" probably because the lack of slang used, fortunately she also enjoys comedies like "BlackAdder" and "Fawlty Towers" .

For me it is important that she has the opportunity to make her own decision, normally she perfers to go for walks, the gym, the pool etc .

Yes that is unusual? Ahhhh Basil and his 'little nest of vipers' Sybil a classic!

My wife almost fell off the chair laughing with the one with the Moose's head, especially when Manuels voice was heard to say "I speak English, I learn from a book!"

Nice move with the Gym Swindoom, I am now a member of ours also as I have been advised that "we are healthy people" - I get dragged there several times a week and it takes two bottles of wine to restore my calories afterwards!

On the Russian TV we will agree to differ I guess.

Thanks for the streaming idea, I will give it a try. I think that having the option of the TV stations is ok...my girlfriend does not watch much TV in Russia so hopefully she wont here!
