Low Blood Pressure??

Just a quick question...my wife suffers from bouts of low blood pressure, and has done so for a long time. The other American/Russian and American/Ukrainian couples we know also report this...according to them it is a common thing...

I am a medical professional and treat and prescribe tests and medicine for patients on a daily basis, so I am well aware of causes and treatments here in the West.

My wife tells me that there is some sort of medicinal or herbal tincture that she used to get in Ukraine that was specifically for these bouts of low blood pressure, but she can't remember the name of it...

My question is if anyone else's wife out there has this problem, and if she can make some guesses as to what this tincture was my wife was taking...and if not, what remedies do they find helpful for this problem...

Yes, I could prescribe a medicine here for it that would work, but the side-effects are worse than the effects of the low blood pressure...and it is not safe in pregnancy...an issue I am very focused on right now .

Any help or suggestions, home remedies, anecdotal stories...anything would be welcome and helpful...

Thanks to all!!

These are two they use over there.

Leonurus cardiaca L. [Lamiaceae], motherwort, is used for circulatory disorders,9 including stenocardia and hypertension.13 The plant serves as a source of a variety of alkaloids (up to 0.4% dry weight) and steroid and flavonoid glycosides, such as quercitin, rutin, and quinqueloside.13

Thalictrum foetidum L. [Ranunculaceae], stinking meadow rue is used for blood pressure control in hypertensive patients.

Thanks, Mark!

I have to admit, like most in my profession I am woefully undereducated about herbals. But from what I am reading, these both treat HYPERtension, or high blood pressure. I am looking for something that treats HYPOtension or low blood pressure...or maybe they treat or are indicated for both?

I will look into both of them, and thanks for the information!!

As i suffer from high blood pressure and my tablets were taken off me in Malaysia back in October on my way back to Ukraine.
Nats Auntie made me take this remedie: Thalictrum foetidum L. [Ranunculaceae], stinking meadow rue is used for blood pressure control in hypertensive patients. It treats High and Low blood pressure and is widely used in Ukraine.

It worked for me but i still have faith in my Avapro tabs and would not like to go too long without them.
