Good day all,

I am curious, can I bring these things on a plane to give to my Inna in Moscow? She is very much a girly girl, loves those sweet and spicy fragrant bath oils, etc.

You can fly with them in a checked suitcase but not as a carry on unless they are in 3 ounce bottles or less and they all fit in a sandwich sized baggie.

That was the rule last October anyway, it may have changed but I don't think so.

Okay, I don't think that will stay intact though, in a suitcase, bummer. Thanks man

I have done this before with no problems, I put all items in Ziploc bags wrap in bubble wrap then place in a box and pack the box in my suitcase. Takes up a little room but I have not every had a problem.

And if they leak, the soap/oil will be inside the plastic bag ... no mess!!! You might want to wrap some cloth, like a towel, around it too incase the bag breaks.

Mate...! I have carried some quite fragile items inside the check in luggage without problems.

As for oils, soaps and other smellys, you are on the right track in the first instance, particularly if you shop around a little and buy some unique things.

Pack them individually in bubble wrap or newspaper and then in a sealed plastic bag. Pack the whole lot inside a small box with more paper or bubble wrap and make sure that the box is not in direct contact with any side, top or bottom of the luggage and you wont have a problem.

As a vetran of many trips into many countries with a vast array of different airlines, the one consistent thing I have found is the tighter you pack your luggage the better. Obviously you need space for the bits and pieces you will bring home, but usually the gifts you take will exchange that space anyway, but if you want a bit of space up your sleeve, simply pack the excess space in your luggage with crushed newspaper. It is light and is worth nothing so is no problem to discard at the other end.

Soaps, bath oils and such are never wasted as gifts. Don't forget, mothers, sisters and other close associates should be endowed with gifts also. The Russians are right into gifts. Not expensive gifts, but thoughtful gifts.

Now a little advice if you want to keep a couple of aces up your sleeve. Wrap the gifts and remember what is in each one, but certainly don't write on them. Sort of keeps your options open as to who or when you bestow the different gifts upon. (Yes there is a lot of hinting in there)

Gonlaz

I have done it many times, I wrap the bottles etc in towels and place them right in the centre of my case and then put all my clothes and other stuff around them, I have not had a problem doing it that way, probably best to place them in sealed bags first though as others have suggested.
