How much time is recommended with possible fiancée before filing K1 Visa application?

I have a question for those who have brought a woman from the Former Soviet Union to their country.

How many trips to the Former Soviet Union did you make before you decided to mail your fiancée visa documents to the INS?

The reason I ask is that my relationship with a woman in southern Ukraine is close to that point.

In July I spent 9 days with this woman.
We probably average 4 hours a day together on this trip.

In October we spent another 9 days together. Except one Sunday we spent together, we averaged 2 ½ hours a day on this trip because my girlfriend got a new job where she works 60 hours a week. Although I did have Sunday dinner with my girlfriend and her mother in their apartment.

I feel great 90 – 95% of the time I am with this woman.
My girlfriend feels the same way and is ready to file the US Fiancée visa documents.

How much time did everyone else spend with their fiancée before brining her to your country?

Thanks for your help.

Hey Dave!
If you look at your question, the obvious answer would be: When you are ready to marry her, and she you.
Some people have many visits, some have few.
You could visit her 10 times, spending 24 hours a day together and still not feel you are ready to marry her.....
You could visit twice, as you have, and just know she is the one...
No two couples are ever the same.
You will know you have spent enough time with your lady.
Only you can tell if you are ready to marry her.
It is a decision you both must reach together.

Sam.

Hi Dave,

I met my wife on line in January and we married in October. I hope to mail the visa application next week. From January to May, we e-mailed each other almost every day. On the weekends we used the Internet and a web camera to talk and see each other. My first trip to Russia lasted 10 days in May. I returned for 2 weeks in October and we were married. From January to the present, there were very few days we did not e-mail, SMS, web cam, or talk on the phone. I stayed in her apartment in May and October. She owes her own business so she worked very little. I guess I'm saying, we were together everyday for basically the entire day.

Good luck to you!!!

Hi Dave...FS is correct.....it is different for each individual.....it is not easy or possible to travel often to the FSU. for me, i communicated with my now wife for 1 year prior to my first visit...i visited 4 times and was married.....i wanted to be very sure...on each trip, we spent every moment together....just be sure it is love and not lust...then all will be okay !!!

Hi,

All the evidence we have says you've only one life....if it feels good, then go for it; you're not trying to break laws, or hurt people. You may make a mistake, but in all likelihood, you'll live through that as well.

Good luck,

Ade

I believe if the 2 of you feel the odds are very good you will establish a wonderful relationship I would go ahead and file. I say this because of the time envolved in acquiring a Visa. All you will be gambling is $400-$500 verses 9 months together(time it took for my wife and I to get a Visa).

I filed for a Fiancee Visa after my 1st visit to meet my wife. Were we ready to get married? No, but everything was looking very good! I visited my wife 3 more times...last 2 were because I couldn't bear being seperated from her!

I filed the papers after my first and only trip to Uzbeskistan. It has been a decision I have no regrets about
doing. She has been in the United States for three months now and we are happily married.
