Help with e-mail from a Yahoo account?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: RRR

Hello,

I am corresponding on e-mail from someone using a Yahoo acct. I checked the headers and I see "(may be forged)". I also used ripe.net and it says the person's name is a guy's name.
I know I haven't asked about address and ph# yet, but I am curious what info I can find thru the e-mail.
If someone knows well in this area and would like to help me with the e-mail, please PM me...
Thanks.

Hi I too am in touch with 2 using Yahoo.
After researching the bat and catching a few out I am keen also to learn about this as seemingly the scammers are trying other tacs to keep one step ahead.
Yahoo offer lots of info on this but it does go really techo.
I am currently talking to a couple of whizzos who are big on this and am awaiting some info.
I think its important to reveal the info on the site itself rather than by pms,
This is a very important area and any info that can reduce the risks of being scammed is,in my view got to be invaluable to people as they go in search of the genuine person.

May be I am an idiot but why not to ask that someone to talk to you using yahoo messenger (or any other type of instant messengers). You'll see at once if it is a real person or not ...

Organized criminals won't waste their time on chatting with you. But if the girl is real she'll do that with pleasure

Not to burst bubbles guy but 99.9 percent of the russian girls on yahoo are scammers. Be careful is all I am saying.
They have to get craftier as more and more guys find this out. They may have some girl actually call you , who knows or instant mess. you.

Watch your wallet guys

Also try internetfrog.com to check and enter the ip number on the emails.
Could help maybe.

The "girl" I'm corresponding with started out on Yahoo, and then moved to Mail.com, where she's on her second e-mail address (she went through 3 at Yahoo). I'm only corresponding with her now in hopes of getting her/them nailed by the authorities.

I questioned this with one of the ones I have been corresponding with.
I asked how come she had a yahoo e mail and was told that its popular in Ukraine.
Its yahoo.com Interestingly I cannot find a Yahoo.ru
Though its not too difficult to work out why.
Some of the scammers I have come across are also using Yandrex Gmail and hotmail.
Unless you have a great deal of time to research all this stuff it can bog you down so much that you feel like yu are in a circle.......like the dog trying to catch its tail.

The simplest advice you can possibly have. At the end of the day the scammer wants money. Don’t send money under any circumstances to someone you haven’t met in person. They can string you along until the cows come home but at the end of the day if you send them nothing it is you with the last laugh.

I agree with that.
But as has previously been said, even if they dont take your money, they dont care if you make the trip and no one is there.
Best advice I seen is always have a backup plan......its a pain but its prob right.

I forgot to mention I have single handedly had to report no less than 23 Scammers from 2 sites alone in the last 5 weeks.
Both of these are supposedly well respected.
I will give them their dues though, they rely on the feedback to point out the perpetrators and are very quick to act on complaints.
I guess they just move then to another site or change e mails.
A shame really as if they were upfront to begin with they could leave it all behind.
I dont forget though that this is Russia.......and change does not happen overnight..........in fact on this one maybe never at all.

I am corresponding with someone who uses Yahoo, but it is {username}@yahoo.ca. The email address has not changed and all headers use the same IP except for the last three numbers, which is normal and usually static coming from a Internet cafe. One more check and I think I will be in that .1% Jerico.

A yahoo account in and of itself is no big alarm. It's web based and free email. The IP address rarely will give you any useful info even if it is registered to some man in Moscow. The more telling information you find in an email header is the mail client she uses. If she's using Yahoo, Outlook, Entourage or another free client she "MIGHT" be on the up and up. But if you see "(BAT!)" as the mail client in her email header, she is up to no good. BAT! is a mail client for organizing many incoming emails with many different outgoing email addresses. BAT! is good stuff to use if you need or have use for it, but very very rarely does an individual use it or even have a use for it,for a single email addy.

I've had 3 scammers in my life. They all came from the yahoo personals with a yahoo address. I agree with Jerico. A large percent of foreign women contacting you via the yahoo personals are scammers.

Posted by: GREGK

The Russian "ladies" are showing up on match.com too. It is real obvious when you read the narrative part of their profiles. " I the woman like read romance novel". Yahoo and Match are no place to start this process if you want to meet real women.

Well, I had asked her for some pictures of her and her family when she took her trip, and she did not respond. So, I wrote her another letter, and we continued correspondence. The next letter I asked for her address and phone number and she disappeared again. That was from MFB.
Guess I know the answer from that one! :P

Now I'm corresponding to someone from LL, who preferred to use Yahoo mail as well. And I realized this one has the same IP! This new one says she does this exact same particular activity that I enjoy. They must have gotten it from my last correspondence. Those sneaks!

Keep up the good work reporting the scammers. I have done the same.

I hope you reconsider putting sypware on another person's computer. In my opinion, that's just as bad as being a scammer. We are looking for honesty in the ladies we want to start a relationship with, right? So how can we sow such dishonest seeds into that garden?

If you have your doubts about a woman, confront her or just walk away. That's my .02 worth.

Cheb

PS: See how many people here will ever open an email from you in the future. Just something to think about.

Cheburashka! Thank you! You are absolutely right. Somebody is looking for true love, somebody is looking for "spy games". From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

The scammers have no such considerations about their deception.I think this is just a tool to identify the initial risks and if all is shown to be above board then it should be removed.
All through our normal everyday life we are checked and screened in different ways for authenticity and clarification.
What scammer is going to admit to her false intentions ?
Before you marry you have to produce evidence that you are free to do so ....its nothing to do with the other partner not believing you.....indirectly it is placing pressure on the person for the proof.
There are moral issues here yes.......in fact maybe even human rights issues too....(although whether those are recognised in Russia is debateable )
Maybe his biggest mistake here was in coming to tell us about Webtracker.......but I am sure others who have been the victim of scammers will wish that they had known about this and saved them both money time and emotion.

I hope that you are aware that what you are about to do is considered a computer crime, and you can be taken to court for that.

Hello, Pin Boy!

This expression is out of use for daily speaking now. We dont use this expression in direct meaning. We can use this expression for figuractive meaning for speaking ironically.

Answer to the point of this topic "Help with e-mail from a Yahoo account?". Yahoo e-mail box is so slowlyyyyyyy. We like to use russian accounts like mail.ru or yandex.ru as rule.

You crack this case and you may qualify for Chief Inspector... lol

Two wrongs don't make a right. I understand your sentiments Martin. But there are other ways for us to detect scammers. This board is full of them. And anyone who has been reading the posts here will come up with many "legal" ways to find out if she is legit.

Spike Lee said it best: "Do The Right Thing".

And as for all the others who wished they also could do computer fraud because they were taken by a scammer, how many times do we have to scream it at the top of our lungs "DON'T SEND MONEY TO A WOMAN YOU HAVE NEVER MET IN PERSON"?

Posted by: martin3030

I am not condoning this by any means.
Its a matter for him and his conscience what I would say is that I can imagine a scenario that would motivate one to consider such actions.
Sending money before being 110% is commonsense and is the first principle.Requests for money are in themselves signals that should set the bells off.
Much advice is given telling people to go there and physically meet the person......I have heard (or certainly read ) about situations where the woman did not turn up or certainly not the one he was expecting. Its far too late after you have gone through immigration expecting things to be ok to then find they are the opposite.
I can understand your points and your thoughts about it all.We are here in an open forum discussing something that has evoked quite a lot of criticism.I suspect he will take all that on board when he decides what to do for the best.At the end of the day though we can only give opinions. In the real world opinions can be valued or rejected..........only he will know if he is doing this the right way or the wrong way thats a conviction he has to make and live with.
