Hi,

This is a Great Site with lots of useful information. I'm travelling to Ukraine in the new year and want to take my old laptop as a gift for a girl I know there. Does anyone know if there would be duty to pay on this? ...would customs be concerned if I entered Ukraine WITH a laptop but left WITHOUT it?
I read somewhere about a 40% duty ...is this correct?

Any advice would be gratefully recieved

You will not have a problem with taking a laptop in with you just say it is for personal use if asked and they very rarely will ask where it is and if they do say that you misplaced it you will not have to pay any duty. Just do not say it is a gift for anyone.

Make sure you get an adapter for the power supply. Don't declare it as a gift and smooth sailing through customs.
