Hi, Please, I need a help about it.
I was contacted for a girl from Russia, she seems me a nice girl and very pretty, not very sexy woman.
Her name begins with G...... We are in the email number 10. I asked her to come with me. She is in agreement and she want to travel soon. Because, she thinks that I'm a good man...and yes, I am.
I'm trying that she sends information about tickets, documents, etc for the travel.
I do not want to have my broken heart. I am scared of it.

Positive things:
-She told me that she don`t like money from me in the third letter. She has 2000 dls. I offered her help in money because It looks like little money. She haven't answer me about it. Was I wrong with it? is normal to offer help to a russian girl?

Bad things:
- Her pictures have a small text down in the photo: by rc-mir.com (I saw this site is like friends.com)
- She doesn't respond all my question.
- She uses a web translator.
- She tell me that she live in Saratov, 750 km northern of Moscow, but, I saw her IP, and it's a RIPE IP from Itelsat, Kiev, Ukraine...perhaps I amn't able to track correctly her IP in Russia.

Thank you very much by your opinion.

Well this kind of has the looks of a scam in my opinion. She contacted you first.
She doesn`t answer all your questions.
I dont know what site she used to contact you but if it was yahoo it is probable scam I am sorry to say.

This has happened to me as well as most guys here on this forum.
You live in Chile ( I guess ) so maybe she can visit you over there. I dont know for sure what the rules are for Chile.
In the US it is difficult for her to just come and visit you.

After about 10 emails they start to kind of ask you for money but indirectly.
Example: My heater in my apartment broke today and it is very cold now here but I will be OK.
You see how they word things. Hoping you help them out with the " heater" .
Anyway just my opinion from what you have written.
Jerry

Thanks, Jerico
She contacted me in myspace.com
She tell me that she want to live in Chile soon, here the rules are less complicated.

Does somebody know about how the IP works in russia?
The IP appears like from Amsterdam, but the name are reserved for Russian access.
But, it is from ISP (Internet provider Access) Itelsat and the location is in Kiev, Ukraine.
She tell me that she lives in Saratov, near of Moscow.

Thanks!

Hi Antonio,

From what you have written, it doesn't sound like a "real" Russian woman but I also think it is to early to tell. You need to see her first in her own country and her surroundings. If she is a scam, she will not want you to come see her unless she is looking for a free vacation in a different city at your expense. This is why I say meet her in her own city. Do not send money to her unless you have met her and think she is in this relationship for love.

I can't help with the I.P. address.

Good luck and feel free to ask more questions.

thanks, I'm new in it. All the advise are welcome.

In most cases IP addresses are linked to the country of origin. If she says she lives in Saratov you WILL have an IP address that indicates Saratov is part of the travel of the email. The thing wth IP address tracking is that it is not uncommon for the Email to travel through 3 or more IP addresses but the originating one is always the computer the email was sent from. Check you email header for ALL the IP addresses listed and depending on the order they appear in either the 1st or last one must be Saratov if she claims she is sending her emails from there.

Posted by: Antonio M.

thanks. Yes This is the last IP. I got from here address, contact person, phones, etc. (XX to protect the real name)

Address: Vasilija Verkhovintsa, XX
01XXX, Kiev, Ukraine
Phone: +380 44 5994XXX
It can be the ISP or a Internet Cofee.

Posted by: OzGuyLooking

If that is the case then I am sorry to tell you but I think she is not telling you the truth and could well be a scammer.

Posted by: ira156

Sounds like a scam. sorry...the phone isnt russian either.

It is a valid Kiev number though (from what I can see).... but if she claims to be in Saratov, then it looks like you have a problem!

Posted by: Pin Boy

i think "she" is setting you up. she may claim she only needs a few hundred dollars more on top of the 2,000 she claims to have to get a visa and plane ticket. small price to pay to have a beautiful, exotic woman show up on your doorstep, yes? think about it - what woman would travel alone to a country where she cannot speak the language to spend time with a man she has never met??? not many. if this person can squeeze a few hundred out of you and some other guys it would go a long way in russia. please don't fall for it.

rule #1. never, ever send money to a person you have never met!

welcome and good luck in finding a sincere and real woman.

Ok, thank you.

now, I'm asking for her address again and I will send her a letter or something

If you get her address then you can send flowers with the delivery people taking a photo of her. Small price to pay before you get too caught up in her.

Don't bother with it any more is my advice, her IP is Ukrainian, her phone nmber is Ukrainian, yet she is teling you she is in Russia. IF you send her a letter or a gift to Saratov 'she' isn't goig to get it but some fat Uri may well love the nice present/letter you thoughtfully bought/wrote for 'her'.

The equation does add up and they will get the big sums ($) if anyone continues on with them.

In my opinion, it's OK to offer help. But to offer money implies one or the other of these two scenerios: (1) you are a sucker OR (2) you expect that her affections can be bought.

Maybe she has a "friend" helping out on the translation, and who knows, anyting is possible.

I am not familiar with this area of computers......could it be possible that it is the agency's?

That is puzzling. Chile is not exactly the first choice for most FSU women to move. Maybe she actually has a genuine interest in that country. Or maybe hard luck trying to grab a Brit, Aussie, or German. And with her making the first move, that is a word of caution. And nothing about an agency was mentioned......so that's another red flag.

A few other items:

Sometimes women are actually hurting for money, due to having seasonal or temporary jobs, and stuck in between seasons. Keep in mind that some women do work in agricultural jobs, or work on cruise ships(as one that I am corresponding with does). So they may suggest they are not doing well financially, and for good reasons.

Yes, you can understand those situations. But STILL don't send money. And especially if it is for something non-essential, like vacation.

I would agree with sending flowers. Or even send a fruit basket, which is another opton.

You can send flowers via www.flowerstorussia.com. You might also check their site as they do have their own blacklist. I am not sure that they do take pictures however. But the florists associated with agencies do.

Just do a google search if you really want to send the flowers there are many and you may even find one in Saratov (Kiev). The only problem is you seem to be expecting a photo of the real lady and it is highly unlikely you will get one of 'her'.

Before you send anything ask her why does her IP address show she is in Kiev Ukraine when she says she is Saratov Russia. One of 2 things will happen, she will tell you the truth and you will be able to verify it, or, she will spin you a lie and insist she is in Saratov and has nothing to do with anything in Kiev.

Doing this 1st will save you some money at least in the short term if she is a scammer, if she isn't a scammer she will understand your need to find out the truth of the matter.

As for offering help, to me it isn't advisable until you have met her in her country and KNOW she is legitemate.

Antonio

Have you tried calling her, if not why? you have her number! if you are unsure of her, call her and see how things work out it is easier to get a handle on someone over the phone than in emails that are easier to hide behind.

I would arrange to cal her and take it from there, you may get all the answers you seek pretty quickly!!

Simple advice but very effective in this situation. A simple phone call usually clarifies a lot of things.

Posted by: ham

no decent woman would pizza-deliver herself to the first comer over the internet...you could be a convicted sociopath on parole.
Be reasonable.
As well, the story that she has the equivalent of $56 because she pawned her grandpa's WWII medals and her mother disability check...which shows oh-her-good-will, yet you know what they say...the FSU is a third world wasteland and you'd better hurry to send the remaining $994 before she gets gang raped in the back alley of the cyber cafe by the mafia guys because she cannot pay her overdue fees.
If you have time to waste, call; but don't be surprised if it's Oleg's girlfriend playing for a fee (also, lots of cloned cell-phones there ).
I would forfeit the whole thing altogether.

Offering money?
I never heard of a man who gave money like this & lived happy ever after.
If you do, some accident-distress scene will soon pop-up...and you'll be required to pay more...or -as it has been documented- the woman does travel to your country, but has sent you fake pictures; lands there in your face and disappears, so you paid her a free ride to your country.

throwing money at the problem isn't the solution...never has, never will.

Yeh its not rocket science this is it, damn confusing at times but nothing that can't be sorted by one method or another!

I would think twice about calling her asitr is becoming another scamming tool. I know of some instances in Aus where guys have called a 'lady' overseas only to find HUGE charges on their hone bills as the calls were classed as info calls and charged accordingly. The twist is the 'lady' on the other side gets a cut of the money that is charged for the call. In Aus numbers to be wary of are anything with 1902 at the beginning but for international calls I do not know the prefix or indeed if there is any prefix that designates an info call or not.

I would stick to emails until you can be sure in yourself that the situation is legitemate. To which I would add I am sure it isn't simply because of the IP issue.

Is her name is Galina? its a scam

Sorry Buddy...It's a scam. Been there done that...got the tee shirts though and they are nice...good vacations...

My advice; if you want to meet a Russian woman...learn to speak a lot of Russian...I mean a lot...not just "Hi how are you, where is the restaurant, hotel, airport..."

Correspond with women from an agency you choose...not a free agency...

Once you are somewhat conversational in Russian plan a vacation to visit. I highly recommend St Petersburg. Use a Russian travel agent and if your Russian is good enough rent an apartment rather than paying a lot of money for a hotel. A good agency can find you a good apartment and provide you with VIP service at the airport.

Learn Russian...
