Do Russian newspapers include lots of gossip?

Whenever I read mosnews or Pravda, it seems like a lot of the news contains gossip. Or perhaps fact is fiction?

I wonder whether it's cultural that the sensational story is prevalent in Russian journalism.

Try reading the British Red Tops (formerly called the Tabloids). Russia is not the only place gossip and bizzare stories sell newspapers. In Saratov there is a newspaper that covers nothing but crime stories. I assume the same is true in other big cities in Russia.
