How do I obtain flight tickets for my Russian fiancee?

I have recently become engaged to my fiancee, who is a Russian citizen. She will be applying for a fiancee visa. I am a UK citizen and I am looking at how to purchase plane tickets from Moscow to London. I haven't had any luck finding out how to do it. I would appreciate any help! Thanks

Did you call a airlines and ask? I don't live in the U.K. but I'm sure it's not too hard.

Also, (not trying to be too noisy) does she have a visa to come to the U.K.? She may not be able just to come there, because you are engaged. I don't know the laws in the U.K., but this doesn't sound correct. You maybe leaving out a lot of information.

She will be applying for a visa after her foreign passport arrives. Do you have to buy the tickets before you apply for a visa? I imagine you don't? I was wondering if it is possible to apply for a visa before the foreign passport arrives?

Hi Woody , If you go to the British Airways Russian website you can order from there i.e Moscow to London and back again.

http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_ru is the link for it. I will be doing the same for my lady in December and I can't wait.

Good Luck

Isn't BA now flying into the newer airport (DME) now? I wonder, is it much better than SVO?

Posted by: woodpecker2002

I flew to DME about 2 weeks ago, its fairly modern, quite small but no one in the shops spoke English.

Yes BA are flying to DME . I was there is August and found it to be a nice modern airport. Even the Immgration was well organised will little hold ups.
All in all very impressed with DME.

I live in America and here you need the passport to apply for a visa. (you have to show the passport and who you are) Buying a ticket before you have the visa could slap you in the face. If the tickets are non transferable you will have lost that money if she can't come that date.
Also you are hoping nothing will go wrong and she will get the visa.
Maybe you should read the visa department of the U.K. before you make any money moves.

Of course this is what I would do... you are a adult, I'm sure you will make the proper move.

About DMO.

I haven't tried it myself, but I have encountered some British people in SVO, were we talked about it. They were frequently in RU and liked the DMO a lot more. They said it was more modern AND is connected the the metro. Something SVO will be in a year or 2.

Yes second that spamer. My lady got her visa last week so all is OK . Visa first and then book flight.

The Airport is about half hour ride from the Metro and will cost a couple of Dollars in one of those taxi's that seat around 12 passengers.

Of course, just checking. I have gone through the UK Immigration Laws in detail regarding Fiancee Visas and I have all the necessary documentation and evidence for the application. However, my fiancee has a 3 year old child, she is not sure whether to bring him with her on her first visit (hence complete a visa application form for her son too) because she feels she needs to get accustomed to the UK for a few weeks. Obviously she would be travelling on a return ticket so she will collect her son at a later date. She will also need to return to Russia to arrange the sale of her flat. I wonder if UK Immigration would take in to account the money she will receive from the sale or rent of the property because as far as I'm aware they only ask about my income which is daft! In the event of the fiancee visa being declined and if she had also applied for her son, it would mean £520 wasted. I would be grateful for any advice.

The fact that she leaves her child behind in Russia during her visit, would probably be pretty good evidence to consular officials considering her tourist visa application that she intends to return to Russia.

As to DME, the Metro connection is huge! No more $50, 1.5 hour taxi rides!

Hiya Pecker,

BA tickets get more expensive as you approach the date for travel. I recall my visit to St Petersburg at the beginning of this year. Had I not dallied I would have paid £300 for the round trip unfortunately for me I left it a day too late and paid an extra £90 (this was one month in advance of travel). I checked the cost the week before I left and the round trip cost had increased to £750.
If I travel in the future I will give serious consideration to the airline Aeroflot (see the official website). Their prices are very competitive and certainly cannot be beaten on the long haul flights across the Russian continent.

Other matters to consider:
Is the Russian passport her first? If so then I guess it is her first trip to the UK. With a first trip comes the interview at the British Embassy in Moscow. See threads in the UK Visa section for info on this.
With regard to immigration requesting info on your income this is to satisfy just one part of their requirements i.e that you are able to adequately support her whilst she is in this country. If she is coming over here just to see what the UK is like, and being her first visit, then I would suggest you get her to apply for a sponsored visa and leave the fiance visa till the point in time she is going to move here permanently.

It's getting a little late. Will continue this tomorrow.

he he, you guys both have "wood" in your names, he he.

We will be getting married in the UK, so a Fiancee visa is the only option as UK Immigration take a dim view of people marrying on Visitor/Tourist visas, and if we were to marry on a visitor/tourist visa then she would have to go back to Russia and then apply for a Fiancee visa, also this could take years because we would have married illegally. Not sure what you mean about the plane tickets.

Wood...hehe ;-)
