How do I purchase plane tickets from Moscow to London

I have recently become engaged to my fiancee, who is a Russian citizen. She will be applying for a fiancee visa. I am a UK citizen and I am looking at how to purchase plane tickets from Moscow to London. I haven't had any luck finding out how to do it. I would appreciate any help! Thanks

Call British Airways and check fares for your itinerary. BA will have an office in Moscow where you should be able to arrange for her to pick up the ticket.

If that way is too expensive call Intourist in the UK. They should be able to find you tickets and arrange for her to pick them up in Russia.

You can book Aeroflot or TransAero from any travel agent and she can pick them up at the counter in Moscow by producing her passport

Thanks both, for your help

Today I have booked my lady's flight to the UK for December through British Airways as this was the most conveineint flight times. You can only reserve a flight on their Russian website so I ended up phoning them in London to book the flight which was very straight forward. They do charge a fee for the ticket to be collected from their Moscow desk though of £25. I thought this might help .

Thanks. How much was the flight cost in total please?

The cost today was £313 return including the £25 fee which I thought was quite reasonable. The price was cheaper two weeks ago and it seems to go up the closer you get to departure date.

£313 is nearly double the price if I bought a ticket from London to Moscow (return), my ticket was only £189. I contacted Intourist and they said it is cheaper to buy one from one of their offices in Russia, although that would be flying with Aeroflot I imagine. I also saw tickets for $400 from Moscow to London return with BA.

I paid that price in June when I went to Moscow in August .
The ticket price has gone up from $364 when I checked 3 weeks ago to $487 now when I booked today . I could not book the flight 3 weeks ago because she did not have her visa then but now she has it's all go for December.

I paid £189 2 weeks ago. I have a feeling that it costs more for Russians to buy plane tickets to London than it does for me to buy return tickets from London. Good news that your visa went well, what sort was it? We were thinking of applying for a Visitors Visa, but then we would run into a lot of trouble (esp since the change of rules since April 2003), because we want to get married fairly soon. So, we are in the process of going through the 13 page Fiancee Visa with a toothpick ;-) I'm confident that it will be successful as we have all the documents, evidence etc, although I am realistic and in the event of it being declined I know I would have to spend a few weeks in Russia to get married over there. The longest part is waiting for her Foreign passport, which will take up too 2 months to arrive.

I've just checked the BA website and I entered a date in February and it gave me the price $367 (including taxes). Although, as you said this price may go up nearer the date. But I can't buy any tickets until I know the outcome of the visa application which means it will cost more by then. Typical !! Don't know why it goes up nearer the date, must be a Russian thing?

I think the later it gets before travel date the cheap tickets get sold . The visa was easier than I thought it would be . maybe because it was a tourist visa but it is valid for six months. This will be her first trip outside Russia so it will be quite an adventure for her.
The funny thing at the embassy was they told her she would be followed all the time while she was in England ......I had to laugh.

You are a lot more advanced by the sound of it than I am as we have only met the once but things are looking good though.
I wish you luck with your Fiancee visa appl and hope things work out well for you both.
I may ask for advice from you if things work out as well as you

Thanks Richyq. Sure you can ask for advice. I was told to avoid a tourist or visitors visa because single Russian women rarely get them (Although I think this is a bit of a myth since around 96% of applications are successful). The reason why we won't apply for those is because we wish to marry. We have to provide a lot of documentation including emails (all of them since Sep 2002 probably!), pictures of us together, phone bills, evidence of employment, bank details, accomodation details, income details. I may also have to provide the booking confirmation of the wedding. Thing is, I have been through the form and I don't think it asks about her finances, it should do really, because she will be selling her flat or renting it out. As long as she can convince the Immigration people that we will be married within a specified time and that it is not a marriage of convenience, all should be okay. The only thing I don't like about it is the request of my bank statements. I am not poor but I am not rich either!
