Hmmmm.. good question..

From what some people told me when I was in the UK... the lottery is a real lottery.. not country specific.. but I bet that is not true.... just doesn't seem right...

A couple years ago a woman at the agency my wife belonged to won. They asked me if she could use our house for a base and mail address. I wasn't interested and not sure of where she did go. My wife wanted her brothers to apply for but they like living in ukraine. I remember when her brother was here on visa two years ago he wasn't too impressed with the american girls. Might be one of his reasons for not wanting to come here.

I don't know if it is still true but in the past each country was given a number of visas based on their population and economic status. If you live in a Western European country your chances were pretty high.

according to the state dept website, it is country specific at how many people can immigrate each year from certain countries.

The numbers are on the state.gov website....
