What do you guys think of this ?Ive been reading these forums for a while and learned a lot from all of you been through a lot of scammers,I was lucky enough that i didn"t send any money. I met this girl on free personals she doesnt speak very good english but answers every thing i ask her, and seems very interested in me, there is also a sixteen year differance between us.She is also on a sight where they translate her letters for her i asked her if she had a phone and she said yes but she could not give me the number because it was against the rules but i could call the office at a certain time it seems to me that they really like to controll the situaton. If i do call her will they let me get her phone number or are they gonna try and get more money out of me. Also is there a way to get that number? Thanks.

1 it might be a scam where you're taken for a ride by an agency seeking long-term subscriptions.
2 it might even be the girl is in cahoots with the agency or works with them for a fee.
3 age difference? i don't know the 2 of you, but be real & wonder whether it could happen in your local pub. If not, then think twice.
4 you can see for some more time. if all you get are endless service bills and no independent contact ( provided she's real), then you've your answer.

Which website did you meet her from? This could be the long drawn out scam where she meets you for trip etc. But will never join you or learn English so you have to pay for translation. Been there, if your not sure move on.

Need more info. Where is she? What agency are you dealing with? Are they going to charge you for a translated call? You are right. It sounds like the agency wants to control the situation so they can make $. It may not be an out and out scam but personally I would not deal with an agency that forbids getting her phone number from her.

If she is also on Free Personals why can you not get her email address and phone number???? and if she is on Free Personals how did you communicate with her in the first place??

They say it is against the rules simply because the longer they can keep you from communicating directly with each other the more they make. If the lady you are writing to says it is against agency rules, it will be either because it is not her saying this but a translator/agency owner, or she is in on it with them and may get a cut/commission or perks by having you deal with her through the agency. Either way it is not the best situation for you!!

That is how some work, one reason why myself and others always recommend using agencies that allow you to buy one email address/physical address at a time or pay a 'one off' fee so you can communicate directly from day one!! Not only does it work out much cheaper, but more importantly you get to communicate directly with each other and there is no third party interferance.

If the lady you write to cannot speak English, this is no problem either, just translate all your letters and send them to her. There are lots of FREE online translation programmes that work well enough to get by.

If you continue to go through the pay per email agency, they will eventually give you her phone number if you are very persistent, but only then after you have racked up a significant amount of $$$ with them. Remember they don't make any money if they give away too much personal information early on!

i met her on free russian personals, but reply to her through family club also guys i havent gave up any money and she hasnt asked for any.She told me mabe one day we could talk through an interpeter at the agency but she wasn;t pushing it.

There are a lot of RW that use local "marriage" agencies to make contacts and provide translation services. Some of these agencies post the profiles, especially on free sites to drum up business. None of this so far can indicate if it is a scam or not. Most will not give the address without you buying it, or if at all, at least at first. Even the legit ones are there to make money.

You have to research the agency. I didn't see a hit on yahoo for a "Family Club" agency so I can't really even give it a cursory look over.

For me the free sites didn't work very well. Difficult to weed past scammers or communicate with those that didn't write in English. Also felt I should be picking up the internet costs so I found an agency I trusted and things ended up going well. Many paths to try, with pluses and minuses for each.

If she is on www.freepersonals.ru, you can get her e-mail address and phone number. Someone is not telling the truth. Ask her to send her phone number using free personals. It is really too early to tell if this is a scam or not. How long have you been writing each other?

For about a month

I agree with Ham totally. Is this the age group you would normaly be with in your own country. If not think seriously about it. If you are 58 and she is 40 maybe...but if you are 38 and she is 20 well i dont know? FSU women are more mature and dont place as much focus on looks, but will you have other things in common as time goes on. Mate if you are say 40 there are plenty of gorgeous 30 year olds that will be more compatible in the long run. As for the scams, we have all had them, from all sorts of agencies. My advise if you havent already done it is read about the culture and the reasons why FSU women seek husbands abroad. With a bit more knowledge you can get a better idea of the scams. If it seems to good to be true it usually is. But hey follow your dreams and dont be embarassed if they are a scam...because almost all of us here have experienced it if even for the briefest time. Good luck

Still to early to tell. She might not speak English well and is embarassed about it. My fiancee is always telling me that I must be patient with her English. Another recent Russian bride tells my friend that she doesn't like to talk in public so he does all the talking. She is taking classes so she will eventual learn English.

I would keep going with the relationship but be careful. If there are any hints about money or buying her something then it's more then likely a scam.

She hasnt asked for money yet, thanks for the info.

anybody know what a olen-samtsan is?

Posted by: prince_alfie

If she is using freepersonals, she should be able to contact you directly via email. This sounds like a ploy to be long-term. I suggest trying a different person.

Posted by: villa48371

yea but shes going through another agency and using there computer so she probably doesnt have acess because they translate for her, she says that her english isnt that good.

Posted by: GentleGiant

olen-samtsan is not Russian unless it is a transliteration, the nearest match I can find is Olenk = "Single" or "Singular"

As stated above, her details may well have been posted by a marriage agency who want to earn some money off of her and you for translations.

Usually after a few letters they will contact you and tell you how much it will cost to keep talking to her.

Have you given her your email address or phone number in any of your letters ?? If they are being deleted by the translator try asking for her FULL postal address and send her a translated letter, (it will take anything from 2-4 weeks if my experiences are anything to go by), giving her your full contact details, email etc; and see if she responds. Try using http://translation.paralink.com/

If you know roughly where she lives, try finding an internet cafe for her to use and explain that the people there will be happy to help her use the computer and include that information in the letter.

Run her name through yahoo or google and see if it turns up anything, you may find out she is a scammer or the agency name that posted her details and now controls your communications is a known scam site. You can also run a reverse DNS look up on the IP's contained in the header from her letters to check they really are coming from Russia. I found the lovely woman from Kazan was writing from New Jersey !!!

thanks a lot gentle giant i apreciate all the info maybe i can im you sometime and you can check something out for me, again thanks.

no problem, I got through a number of scammers before I found Elenas Models site, it if doent work out with this one give it a try, not cheap but I only ran into a couple of scammers out of the 100+ women I wrote to.

Anything that is "free" on the internet is a waste of time. Find a reliable pay site, subscribe to it and then send to her about it. It will probably be free from her end...they want your business not hers...
