hi all,

i spent 12 days in ukraine recently. 5 of those days were spent traveling and enjoying a small town on the sea in crimea. 17 hour train ride each way was quite a challenge but glad i made the trip.

all in all it was an outstanding trip and i did spend much time with a very nice woman and we will continue to correspond. i also did some volunteer teaching at a language school the first week i was there. i teach english as a second language in an american public school system so it was a breeze for me. my hope is to get a 6-8 week position next summer. the director of the small school where i volunteered said he liked my style and hopes to have enough students enrolled through the summer next year and there would probably be a position available if i am interested. there are also many other language schools in the city and fortunately the local paper had an article about language schools and a chart listing many schools and their contact information.

kiev is a great, great city. easy to navigate, beautiful center city, great sites, incredibly attractive and proud women, fantastic and affordable food, and a lively vibe. i wished i could have stayed much longer.

i don't think i'm going to write an extended trip report. the school year starts in a week and a half and i have some house projects to do now and after work while we have good late summer/early fall weather and daylight after dinner time. i do not like being indoors and tied to a computer when i could be outdoors. the bottom line is i had a wonderful time and will go back as long as there are no circumstances here in the states that prevent me from returning. for anyone who is thinking of going and is unsure, i say get on the plane and go ASAP!

Welcome Home PB.
I agree, Kyiv is a great place to spend time in the company of a "Special lady". Good food, beautiful scenery, architecture and yes, incedibly attractive ladies!
Just to sit in Independance square and take this all in is a unique experience.

Like PB says, go there!!

Welcome back Pin Boy

Nice to see you gave something back to society on your stay

Great to hear you are back and have had a safe trip. Like you say Kiev is a wonderful place to be in. For me, I'd choose Kiev over a sunny holiday in Spain (my personal opinion).

In my opinion Kiev has become very expensive. There are many beautiful girls and opportunities but only if yo are determined to pay 200-250$ per day.Girls attitude is not very good compared to girls from province but chances are better because girls are more.
Now income in Kiev has reached 300$ per month,is constantly rising, unemployment is very low and prices really high, much higher than in Czech Republic,Slovakia or Poland and according to the quality of goods obtained higher than in many West European cities.
If you go with a girl to a restaurant, you will pay 50$ average while in province about 10-15$.In the club if the girl likes to drink and lets say she has a girlfriend with her you will spend about 50$ every hour you stay with them.Taxi for foreigners costs 10-15$ even for small routes. This gives an idea of money sb needs to spend in Kieve if he wants to date women from there.
Furthermore many girls ask for presents usually mobile phones which cost 200$.The ones who do not ask for presents are usually interested in marriage and will retain from sexual activities for a long time.Foreigners are considered not very smart, americans are described as narrow-sighted.
I saw some foreigners with girls in Kiev but the girls wre of usual appearance, not sth special.I also noticed many foreigners without girls, trying to pick up girls, esp in clubs Decadance,Carribean and 44.In general there are chances but girls seem to be very independant and have high expectations. It is very difficult to pick up girls outside clubs, they are afraid of foreigners.
I think in province situation is much better, with less money you can have far more girls and better looking than in Kiev.Kiev is good if you travel there for example with 3000$ and stay no longer than 10 days.

Was just in Kiev last week just for a one day lay over on my way to Krivoy Rog. Even though there were rain showers the city is beautiful as this was my first time to be there when it was not winter.

Congrats... travel to Kiev is now visa-free for Americans, yes?

YOu are correct. No visa is required for American, Candians, and EU residents.
