Children's Books in Russian

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have looked everywhere. Yes even on the web for children's books like The Cat in The Hat written in Russian.
Does anyone here know where I might find such books? Maybe you could suggest a .ru website that may sell them. I have had no luck with the other large book sellers.

Maybe try a Russian search engine like Yandex.ru or Rambler.ru and type in a search in cyrillic. There are plenty of book sellers in Russia, and they would have to have a good supply of children's books. But why Dr Seuss when there are great Russian childrens books. They love Cheburashka, Snegorachka and Dyed Morozh, etc.

Maybe they can help: http://www.vasha-kniga.com/

I have never seen Dr. Suess in Russian. But you can find some children's books (fairy tales and the sort) on eBay from time to time. Maybe Victor Kamkin would have something as well? Also, I know there are some Russian book stores in NYC that ship (I've ordered a few online without problem).

I ask about Dr. Suess only because I am trying to learn sentence structure. I have no one to teach me because my russian friends here got deported 2 years ago. So I have been teaching myself. Another friend of mine suggested children's books - ie: Dr. Suess - because I am already familiar with the story.

from time to time you can get some on EBay but I also have never seen DR Suess, you can also find beginner books written with 1 page in English and then the opposite page the same but in Russian...The local library may have some for check out mine did and it is a smaller size town.

I don't think there is a translation of The Cat in The Hat (Think about it, you might try to it) I also don't think that there is a family gradanza in Russia...(it's might be challenging)
You can find lots of fairy tales that had been translated from French, Italian,or British origin

Try the russian community in your area. I know both Brighton beach NYC and north Philly have stores that sell russian childrens books.

Thanks for all of your help.
I have tried my local community, but it didn't pan out.
Also, I am pretty far from those locations.

You may be right, it may not be translatable (sp.) Some of the words used by Suess don't even exist in english.
I will try some of the books cheburashka suggested and will cross my fingers.

Well Cap'n, I have to apologize. I assumed that you wanted to give books to Russian kids, not use them to learn the language. Why don't you start a Russian language course, get Rosetta Stone software, or listen to the Pimsleur cd's?

Their sentence structure is waaay diffent from ours!

When I went back to school to take Russian language courses, we used a book series called "Golosa" which I thought was very good.
