agree.
at the same time Tarkovsky's movies are not for everybody.
He has a brother or cousin (not sure) -no less talented film director Nikita Mikhalkov, he stayed in russia, as far as I know.He is awesome. I 'd say muli-talented, started up as an actor, ended up as film producer. Not sure if there any of his movies in English

I've always greatly regretted the untimely death of Sergei Bodrov, Jr. I think he would have been one of the truly great Russian directors had he gotten the chance.

I don't know where to post that:
If anybody happen to be in Moscow again, try to get tickets to Gelicon Opera.(it's very popular theatre, tickets should be booked in advance)
It has absolutely unique style and their own challenging approach to classics. Basically they convert their own vision of classics into modern time, it's fun and very entertaining. Carmen was one of my favorite.Yes, that Carmen by Bizet. Music stayed the same, it was still genuine Bizet, but they plot was totally converted into modern times. That was hilarious.
Coffee bean opera (can't recall the name for sure, it's been a few years since)- was cool too.
I am sure they've done lots of more playes since last I've been there.
