Truth about age?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

On big dating sites like Match.com, Yahoo Personals, etc. its very common for people to shave a few years off the age they claim to be.

I've heard "everyone does it so they have to do it too, otherwise they won't come up in the right searches." Its also common to fib about being a non-smoker. People who fib feel that "if they are truthful they won't even get into the game." They think its better to aplogize later.

Is this the case with RW dating sites? In those I have looked at it seems that the ladies really look their posted ages. Most of the men had believable ages too except for some Western men who looked 60-something that claimed to be late 40's. Of course pictures can be deceiving.

I believe in honesty above all, and it looks like the RW dating sites have much more honest information. True? If so I would believe that Men who do not tell the truth about themselves would be making a big mistake. Also true?

I have seen instances where the same women were registered with different agencies (Tver Russia) and would state "never married" on one and "divorced" on the other and also using different ages. Whether or not this was deliberate I don't know.

Honesty is the best policy!
If you're looking for a specific age range ask them when you write. Tell them that honesty is very important to you.

well, the whole LD/WWW world is a twisted one...fakes and sociopaths abound.
I think honesty is the better policy, although by no means i'm favoured in looks, money or else.
The bigger problem with what at first looks like some curious (at worst annoying ) white lie, is that people are likely to come up with another white lie to cover the first, until you no longer have white lies but are covered up in mud.

As well, since sooner or later everyone has to come to terms with reality, those who lie most are often mere time waster and players.
In fact, if i'm 58, live in a trailer off welfare and the biggest event in my life was false teeth, i can fool people with my "38 yo musclehead millionaire stud who just got back from a bahamas sailing trip on his yacht " charachter only as long as i keep them at great distance, while enjoying a (very) limited and (very) residual cyber ego boost.

My fiancee lied about her age by subtracting 2 years, I was honest. She looks at least 5 years younger then her age so it isn't a stretch. So yes, the stats can be little white lies and I would say a large part are not 100% truthful.

GTR, Ditto here! I don't know if she did it or the agency did it. My wife did make a comment about once you pass 40! She would have no problem passing for early 30's...she's 45 goin on 46!

There are a couple of sites that send me thumbnails of all the new girls that sign up on a daily basis. I have looked at a LOT of pictures...

I have noticed on-line and in person (having met a few Russian girls here in the states) more than half of the young ones (18 - 23) try and look older than they are by means of their dress (dressing like professionals) and their make-up. If the picture is well framed and in focus, it is easy to tell (with in a few years or so) how old a woman is. Neck and forehead lines are hard to hide, The tone of the skin high on the cheeks and around the nose give an indication even through heavy makeup. Also the build of the body. Most 18-23 yr RWs look a little on the skinny side. It seems to take Russian women a little longer to "fill-out" than AWs (maybe they don't have growth hormones in their chicken, and milk) I get the impression that some of the 18-23 yr crowd up their age a year or two. I don't get the impression that RM take young women very seriously for the same reasons we don't... They tend to be unpredictable, and do not have a clear idea of what they want/need for their life to be fulfilling...

The 23-30 group seems a lot more variable. Here the real white-lie I see is not hedging on the age. (and it's damned hard to tell in this age group anyway!!) It's the hedging on the weight, and having had children that I have noticed most often.

There is no way for me to know for sure, but I take a look at the profile data, and then compare it to the picture. If something doesn't fit, like height to weight ratio, and the body outline.

5' tall & 99 lbs is gonna look skinny by AM standards. 5' tall and 116 lbs is gonna look wicked curvy, 5' tall & 130 lbs is gonna look a little chunky, a small to average framed woman. Factor in the ratio between the apparent size of the palm of the hand, and the narrowest point of the wrist. This will give a sense of the size of the bones. If the bone size is larger, then the that 5' tall skinny woman is gonna weigh closer to 110, and she will look more muscular than the small boned woman.
If the picture is a portrait, look at the jaw line, and the mid neck area. The lighter the body the more definition there is going to be.

Also it's really hard to tell how tall a RW is from a picture... There is seldom anything in the picture that can be used to gauge relative size.

Look at a lot of pictures and compare the stats to the photos. Even if the stats don't meet your criteria, or the woman's picture doesn't spark your interest -- look anyway. Get used to looking at the different body types that RW have. If you spend some time doing this, then you are not going to get fooled by an obvious distortion in the stats, and you'll get a better feel for what type of character you might be dealing with before you write the first time...

You may have noticed that I have not said anything about the 30 - 35 and up crowd. Kids factor in here. I have found it almost impossible to gauge the age in this group. I also don't think it matters much. I think it is the way that their body carries their life experiences that is most important. If they look like they are in good shape, healthy and active, I don't think it matters much if they are 30 or 32, or even 35, saying they are 32... Do they wear it well? If yes then that's good enough for me.

I personally have not spent as much time looking at women in the 35+ range, not because they don't look fab... (they look outstanding!!) its because I am looking to start a new family, not adopt one, so I do consider an upper age limit. From what I have seen, though, the same rule as the 30 -35 group seems to apply. Let your eyes tell you what is going on, and don't consider age as much as apparent signs of health in the photo...
and height to weight proportions. Same rules apply as to the younger groups, but the ratios are going to be a little on the heavier side for a given height. If she is active, it's is probably in muscle mass, not fat!!!
Personal note: I've seen more than a few photos of 40+ women in bikinis that looked like they could kick my skinny butt without trying very hard!!

I have noticed that the 35+ crowd does not seem (IMO) to hedge as much in their stats as the younger groups do... especially weight...
YMMV

I don't think I have ever met a woman who was honest about their weight. I always accept that women will state their weight lower then it is.

I personally would never ask. It's a moot point. Either they are attractive to me or they aren't... The numbers in the profile just need to be close enough to convince me that the profile matches the pictures...

My fiancee added weight to her profile ... she thought she was too skinny.

Honestly it takes longer to explain it than to do it. It's not rocket science.

Mostly knowing the HxW tables and that there is an offset for RW...

Most of it can be eye-balled.

GTR you confirm my hypothesis... Women are not honest about their weight. I think the general rule is -- women will say they weigh less then they do.

Yes I did, She didn't tell the truth about her weight or age. After she told me about her weight, she asked me if she should gain weight and if I like fat women. I actually found it rather cute.

I cant imagine it is a very smart woman who would lie about her age on a Russian bride site, since as soon as you start completing paperwork for visa, you will see true age with no doubts! She would be quite dense to lie from the start!

That is when I found out, when I started the visa process. I didn't mind, it was 2 years younger and she looks at least 5 years younger. American women do it too. I'm use to it.
