This was in the winter in Siberia. I had been longing for a steak! I told her I will cook for her...no worries just let me cook! We went to the market and bought some descent looking beef. All was good until the cooking started. She had never seen anyone use the broil selection on an oven. Well, she started worrying about everything else...brocoli...which she had never eaten, and the potatoes I was cooking on the stove. Well I'm sure you understand when you are broiling meat it is very time sensitive.
I couldn't get her out of my way...well the steaks didn't catch fire but they were close enough to smoke up the apartment real good! No ventilation but opening the windows and it was at least -20. Yeap! She were PO'd!
Took a long time before she let me cook again and now it;s a good laugh since she has learned what a broiler does!!!!

I said it looked good...It were edible but so well done it was like leather! There was a very large market near our apartment. I can understand why they tell us to cook meat well done....was basically a flea market with hundreds of venders(I am sure individual farmers,etc.). When we were in Moscow it was a different story. We did most of our grocery shopping at Ramstore....a chain. They had fairly descent beef. My cooking had to change from broiling to the frying pan while we were in Russia though! I guess it was a few months after she arrived her before I got to show her the proper use of a broiler(This was only because we ran out of gas for the grill!). Yeah that vent hood do make a difference! My wife does like and appreciate that grill. It cooks better and does not mess up the kitchen!

We buy peas in a can for a salad she makes. When we eat peas for dinner we usually eat the frozen kind...IE they are cooked and warm. Well we were out of frozen and had a can. She just opened em up and served em. OH Well!
