Just a bit of fear in the back of my mind........that one of the women you may meet on a dating site actually turns out to be a transvestite in person!!

Any idea how common in the FSU how sex-change operations are??

Been contacted by a few women who's pictures did not jibe....
There must be a few..... Look at the hands, and the throat... almost always a dead give away!!!

But at the same time I gotta say: No self-respecting Tranny would make the attempt on a heterosexual dating site. The "dirty" ones take advantage of drunk men in person...
( Lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 12 years...) I have met some really cool gender ambiguous men and women, who explained their POV very well. It's a whole different kettle of ... something ... Yet the ones that I encountered were not after regular guys.... They liked Macho-man ***holes.... Some kind of power-trip game... very risky. (to each their own, i guess) Same with female Trannies that played games with other women. They were after ultra-feminine women who though they were getting a stud.... *whatever*

On-line it just doesn't work the same way... In person, the game works in the bar, or club, in other forums (ie on-line) it is about satisfying the fetish, and the players know the score...

How common is it where you live ?Isn't to common unless you are in Thailand, SO I wouldn't worry about it.

To be honest I've seen a couple here in Ufa, but believe me, you'd never get hoodwinked lol

Hey, each to their own, but IMHO it's a very dangerous predeliction (I bet I spelled that wrong)... There is far less tolerance of the alternative elements of society here.

Yeah i noticed that...lets face it Russians are still honest enough to say what they mean. Due to politiacl correctness we have to say " not that there is anything wrong that" whether we think so or not.

For clarity, are you talking about transvestites, or trans-sexuals....they're different, you know......

From my conversations with Lena, homosexuality in general is not very accepted as it is in the West, so the idea of transvestites in Russia I am assuming is even less accepted.

I think that a transvestite in Russia who approaches a straight man could get himself killed.

Lena tells me that she has not heard of transvestites in Belarus, although she said that they might exist in Moscow.

But, as it has been mentioned before in these discussions, homosexuality is far less accepted and tolerated in Russia as it is in the U.S. and Western Europe.

(Lena has some friends she knows in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, so she has no prejudice against gays. And I also think that a person can choose the life they want as long as they are not hurting anyone).

Homosexual behavior was illegal in the USSR, but in Ukraine, it was known to exist and most people didn't care. There was a "gay" section of Hydropark, a beach on the Dnieper River in Kyiv. Public bathrooms in certain areas were known as places to hook up with men. Even in villages, though homosexuality was not discussed, it was acknowledged. My husband was working in a village once and overheard a conversation - "Oh, the priest is going to Ivan's place again.", said in a way which made it clear they knew of their relationship. My husband also lived in St. Petersburg and said homosexuality was pretty open there. At one time in the 1970's, a gay rights activist even chained himself to a fence near government buildings.

Ukraine reversed the law against homosexualilty very early in its independence. Today, in any big city, homosexuals live openly and most people don't care.

Firstly, I wanted to ask why ordinary men are interested in this information. But having read your concern, I understand why you ask.
I can imagine how terrible it'd be to correspond with a woman and then found out that she was a man

I wonder how many men would marry such a woman. What would you do if you really fell in love with her-him?

Well one thing i noticed on my recent trip was that there are quite a few very popular transvestites on TV. Now weather its just an act like the Dame Edna character i dont know......but it was very accepted even by the older people. But then again its a form of theatre and it wasnt like you couldnt tell they were guys

I think they don't get acquainted at ordinary sites. I guess they use special sites...but who knows ... be careful
