Yes, Irina Slutskaya did not get the gold. But the fact she at least medaled, despite the fact she took a fall, says a lot about the other aspects of her performance.
However, what was really impressive about Irina was her attitude. Saw her interviewed this morning---spoke perfect English, no less. Seemed to be comfortable with the fact that she was there at the games. And quite a refreshing sight, after seeing many other athletes being all full of themselves.
Plus the fact that she was balancing the Olympic quest, while at the same time, taking care of her mom, who has medical issues.
Irina Slutskaya is a class act. No doubt about it.
