Hi All,
Khashyar gave me a flyer from a school in West Los Angeles that teaches Russian. I looked high-and-low for a school nearer to me (in Orange County), but to no avail. So I enrolled in the course.
I must say that I'm VERY impressed with the language course! I'm surprised at how quickly I'm grasping the Cyrilic alphabet and am able to learn new words! Russian is truly a phonetic language (meaning that you will pronounce every character with only a few exceptions.)
The course wasn't horribly expensive... only $194 (including $30 membership fee and $15 for the book.) The instructor (Anya) is excellent. The school doesn't look like much and parking is limited (so I park at the West Side Pavillion) but don't let that disuade you... I recommend them! Currently, the "Beginning Russian" class is on Saturdays from 12:40 - 2:10 until April 5.
